It'll grow back, unless the root of the nail was also removed. I've had problems in the past with one of my toenails getting infected, finally just had that half of it removed - terrible procedure to have to go through, but it corrected the problem.

And yes, my toenail grew back, and it looks perfectly normal and healthy.

Takes a long time though.

This happened to my little toe toenail. It split right down the middle (have no idea how) and it start to grow split and cling to everything. I had to tape it so it wouldn't keep splitting down the middle and eventually it grew back normal after a long time. It was annoying to deal with but it went away.

I got my thumbnail ripped off once. I got it stitched back on to help regrowth or some ****. The new one eventually grew out and pushed the old one off.

I also have a picture of it, but it's not that good.

It should be fine. I lost both of mine on my big toes last summer playing softball because decided to put a backwards-facing seam right above my big toes inside the shoes. I ripped my right one off, figured out the problem and taped up the left to try to keep it from happening again, but it did anyway a month or two later. The right one is all the way back now and the left is about 75% back. Hurt like hell though for a few weeks.
