Profhet 07-09-2009, 01:22 PM So I need to make a desert for family reunion. Obviously outside. Don't want to do the usual crap, but also don't want to anything to exotic. No cakes, fuggin hate cakes outside.
I was thinking a Tiramusu(one food I will eat over sex :) ) or some kind of trifle.
Any suggestions/favorites with the recipe which should scale well. I have a cooler to keep it cold till we are ready to eat it.

?
Profhet 07-09-2009, 10:59 PM that looks good, but I'm trying to think of something like a trifle or similar.
I'm definetely gonna do that one some time though MoFo, I like 10 minute prep times.
nigafool 07-10-2009, 12:16 AM my recipe for tiramisu:
2 packages ladyfingers (48 cookies)
unsweetened cocoa for dusting
cream:
16 oz. mascarpone cheese
1 quart heavy cream
1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. vanilla
dip:
3 c. strong coffee
3/4 c. rum
2/3 c. sugar
first whip the cheese w/the cream, sugar and vanilla until slightly thick. it will thicken up in the fridge so you dont want it like whipped cream.
mix the coffee, rum and sugar, dip the ladyfingers in it and make two rows of 12. cover with 1/2 the cream, and dust with cocoa. do another layer of dipped ladyfingers, the rest of the cream, and more cocoa.
put it in the fridge for at least an hour.

I came in here to post that.
banana pudding is perfect for outside stuff.
Kiint 07-10-2009, 03:18 AM For a trifle, I do the following:
x number of jam rolls cut 1/2" thick and laid across the whole surface of large serving bowl (glass is best)
Enough thick custard to fill bowl.
Drained peach quarters
Set flavoured jelly (jello?)
Get bowl, layer the sliced jam roll so that there is as little bowl showing as possible. Single layer, so it forms a "bowl" of jam roll.
1: Pour a little custard into the bottom.
2: Add a few spoonfulls of jelly (jello?) and some peach quarters.
3: Is bowl full? No, go to 1. Yes, serve.
If you want to be special, whip some chantilly cream up (cream and sugar whipped till stiff, but not butter) top the custard with this and grate some chocolate over the top of the cream.

are those hand picked, estate grown, first cold pressed extra virgin pussy juice lady fingers (or hpegfcpevpjlf for short)?
Profhet 07-10-2009, 12:27 PM I'M doing a chocolate brownie trifle from Food Network, I think I got fatter looking at the recipe. :) Thanks though for the suggestions.
I do love me some banana pudding though.
i would have done home made strawberry shortcake - strawberries are in season and the shortcakes are easy to make, store, travel with and taste great. and home made whipped cream is a cinch and makes it that much better.
