I have an urge to learn a how to play the piano/keyboard, and want to buy a keyboard that is about 200$ (including the stand and an adapter).

I'm currently looking these two:
The 61-key Yamaha PSR-E313
Amazon.com: Yamaha YPT310 61 Full Size Touch Sensitive Keys Bundle - Professional Headphones, Keyboard Stand, and Power Supply: Musical Instruments (http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-YPT310-Touch-Sensitive-Bundle/dp/B001FSJC4G/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1245629062&sr=1-3)
The 76-Key Casio Wk-110:
Amazon.com: Casio 76-Key Electronic Keyboard with Adaptor and Stand: Musical Instruments (http://www.amazon.com/Casio-76%252dKey-Electronic-Keyboard-Adaptor/dp/B000XPRQ0E/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1245629320&sr=1-4)

Unless you have any other suggestions (around the same price, with midi-out/usb connection for fruity loops).

Well, if I were you I would look to spend at the least $500 on a keyboard. Keys are an expensive instrument & if you are looking to start out learning them id suggest trying to get a full 88 weighted keyboard, for best result. If I had to choose from those 2 I would choose the Yamaha, just because I think Casio is a cheap brand.

The upside to the casio is that since its 76 keys it should be weighted, so im kinda torn between the 2. Check out musiciansfriend, dont look on amazon for music equipt.

We have a Yamaha PSR. It suits our needs. It's velocity and touch sensitive, and although it doesn't have weighted keys, neither of us is a true pianist so it works. It has good sounds and plays just fine.

For someone learning, and not knowing if you'll continue to train - I'd start with a less expensive option. You can always upgrade later.

There's different PSR models, which one do you guys have?

I have the old PSR-290 that I started with. If you lived around KC, MO I could sell you mine with the double-X stand and the attachable music stand (which is very difficult to find) and sustain pedal.. It's 61 key, hammer action(not weighted keys), with MIDI-in/out.

I now use a Casio privia px120 88 key weighted. I'm still slowly learning, haha.

I learned on a real old organ, went to a cheapo casio I got for my 7th birthday, to a yamaha.. and now I generally do any piano playing on a midi keyboard.

So yea, any piano playing skill whatsoever will mean you can play just about anything. Ive played on very high-end pianos when I was in my HS band too, and the skill translated there just fine, so I wouldn't worry about the weighted/non-weighted issue throwing you off.

I'll give one of my friends a call on monday and see what his advice is, hes got god-level skill and would generally know of a decent starter keyboard.

Well, if I were you I would buy a keyboard with more than 61 keys -- I only say this because I started learning keyboard and quickly wanted more than 61 keys and if you spend a healthy investment on your first and then want to move up, you're going to spend a lot more money than you initially wanted.

dunno if this was already said, i didn't read
