DI box?

What will a DI box do for my noise floor/levels/tone into an audio interface?

Right now I am recording my Strat and P-Bass directly into my firewire interface, and into amplitube/ampeg when I need to.

What will a DI box do for me? Is it worth the money? I don't want to spend a lot of money...so the question isn't what will a 900 dollar DI box do, but what will an intro one do?

Your interface has an instrument input so you don't need a DI unless you're having ground loop or noise issues.

However if you want your bass to sound completely fucking amazing w/o having to do anything to it besides add compression.

Avalon U5 | Sweetwater.com (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/U5/) <-- I have no clue what the fuck their shit does but it just adds major weight to the sound.

Yeah I hear alot of people rave about active DI's for bass...However, with my strat on full blast, and plugged into my Firebox, by the time I get a good signal out of Amplitube (~-12 or -6dB)...there is quite a bit of noise...maybe that's just the nature of the beast. I can't turn up my amp and mic it here bcs I have shitty walls and neighbors are bitches. Was hoping there was a cheap solution.
