ARRRRRRR......avast. Shiver me timbers, look at what I bought.

I ran Cubase SX 2 for no less than 6 years. I figured I owed it to Steinberg since I'm starting to make a little money with what I'm doing.

Oh, and I bought one of these too:

Sass sounds awesome on it.

Good choice with the SM7, nice sounding and versatile mic.

What does Cubase 5 offer that made you choose it over anything else? Just curious, I use Cubase LE myself (It was free with my recording interface).

Lots. Cubase LE is based off of Cubase 4 and doesn't have the same audio engine as Cubase 5 and the upcoming Nuendo 4 (which are related). Um, what else...

- lots more tracks. LE is limited to like 32.
- VariAudio - sort of like a built in autotune/melodyne
- Loopmash. It's a completely seperate program that lets you mash up loops and shit.
- Groove designer - sequencer based drum machine on steroids
- Control room - lets you set up different mixes for various outputs so you can do things like send different mixes to different headphone cues and whatnot
- unlimited inserts/sends/returns
- sidechaining (FINALLY!)
- better plugin management
- HALion One, their VST3 soft synth, which actually sounds quite amazing.

There's a lot to the whole package, and I will probably only scratch the surface of this app. But the fact is that I have been running some iteration of Cubase for close to 9 years now and they deserve a substantial amount of money for the utility and enjoyment I've gotten from their work.

I havent pirated music software... ever. I have always purchased what I use. If for nothing else, to get actual support when I need it.

Ive pirated other software so I guess Im a hypocrite but never music software.

It's actually nothing at all like calling apples meat. In fact, what you just said makes no sense whatsoever.

Idiot.

Thank you for your well informed insight on theft as we know you are an expert in that area.

Actually, in legal terms, software piracy is stealing. You are acquiring a body of work without paying for it.

The common sense answer says that since you're not depriving anyone of anything, and simply making a digital copy, it's not stealing - but an attorney will tell you differently. It's stealing by the legal definition.

Just built a new studio system for it, too: a Core i7 with 6GB RAM, a terabyte of SATA3 HDD (which I want to mirror), Asus P6T mainboard. It runs REALLY FAST!!!!
