AkumA 04-03-2009, 09:21 AM I haven't given it a shot yet, but apparently it runs ff series and MGS series flawlessly?
Im just looking to play Tekken and a few other games.
Anyways if you have used it, how is it? What are your specs?
PCSX2.net - News (http://www.pcsx2.net/)

NoFiX 04-03-2009, 09:27 AM Are there any good GameCube emus? I'd like to try FZero GX.
Mantua 04-03-2009, 09:29 AM i tried running it on my shitty laptop... didn't work. 6fps, but every game i tried loaded
i don't know if it works with iso's, but it loaded them from the d drive with no problem

There is a perfect GC emulator and there is also a perfect Wii emulator. Same emulator program runs both.
NoFiX 04-03-2009, 10:11 AM That's Dolphin, right? I'm going to try it eventually!
i'll try to answer some questions.
Dolphin-emu - News (http://www.dolphin-emu.com/news.php) is the Dolphin emu. Yes, you have to sign up on for their site to download, and they have a good compatibility list there. I've played Metroid Prime and Smash Brothers Brawl and I generally get about 40-60fps on a core i7/gtx 280.
PCSX2 has a good compatibility list as well, and I recommend checking youtube to see people's videos of playing the games and check the settings. The only game I've played is Gran Turismo 4 which I'm having crashes with, but while it does run it goes about 40 fps. MGS and Tekken probably work much better. The real key to getting the games to run is figuring out how to set all of the 60+ settings to try to make them work best.
So Wii/gamecube emulation is basically perfect with only a few major games still unsupported, while Ps2 emulation is still in the early stages and you may have to work hard to get your game running. Also, don't touch any of these emulators without at least a high-end dualcore / quadcore and a powerful videocard.
Null Space 04-03-2009, 11:10 AM I'm using PCSX2 and playing GT4 and mjoe is right there are tons of settings. You might find a thread on their site that will give you the best settings for a particular game. I'm getting about 40-45 fps except the emulator seems to have a problem with lights. When ever there is a light source on the screen the fps drop. Not sure if it just GT4 or emulator specific as this is the only game I'm playing.

this is important. ps2 is a ballsy little machine, i was surprised :(
AkumA 04-03-2009, 11:33 AM GTA games, and games that exist on the arcade or PC ill play via MAME or PC.
I only like emulation for exclusive games, or 3d arcade fighters that work like shit on MAME.
I try to have/play every game in existance in one form or another - loser ++

It doesn't mean that the PS2 is as "ballsy" as a high end PC it just means the emulation sucks.
NoFiX 04-03-2009, 03:27 PM AkumA, have you softmodded a WII by chance?
Are there any good GameCube emus? I'd like to try FZero GX.
i just tried Fzero GX. The graphics look great. However, it is only ingame and not working, as some floating point stuff isn't emulated.
Tanelorn 04-04-2009, 02:09 AM AkumA, have you softmodded a WII by chance?
i may or may not have, its a surprisingly simple process as of now
HollyW00d 04-04-2009, 06:13 AM I recommend using RiskiiMod, which isn't a well known package but is the best softmod out there I feel for modding the wii, because it not only lays all the packages out in numerical order but it also blocks disc updates and whatnot preventing you from bricking the wii. very simple to install.
If anyone wants the newest version, with the newest cios's PM me. I'll include the N64 emulator and a bunch of other emu's like scummvm and gensx etc for the Wii. If you updated the wii to the newest system menu (4.0) it may not work though, some people report problems. 3.4 or under works.
I'd rather play roms on the actual system so I don't have to worry about using a gay ass pc controller or buying adapters for each of my console controllers for the pc. Not only do you never get 100% compatibility but the performance isn't always there on the games that work.
I use emulators for NES, SNES, NEOGEO, SegaCD, Arcade etc but for games like Dreamcast, Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, and Wii it's so much better to use the actual console.
NoFiX 04-04-2009, 07:53 AM Awesome. Thanks for the info!
