"You know that feeling you get when somebody embarrasses themselves so badly YOU feel uncomfortable? Heard Chris Cornell's record? Jesus."

He's one to talk. Get back on the heroin, Trent! Your music ain't what it used to be.

i think it's pretty far-fetched to compare trent's recent work with that of chris cornell.

trent may not have kept his razor sharp edge, but it's only getting slightly less dull. and what trent is lacking in angst, he makes up for in his embrace of technology, and his genius marketing.

cornell went for an EXTREME pop sound, even seeking out timbaland to produce the record. i don't even think hardcore soundgarden/cornell fans use the term "selling out" to what he did, it's just such a joke/tragedy.

i completely understand how writers/performers can "mellow out" as they get older, i'm sure there are plenty of examples. but cornell's slide is beyond that imo. for me, it taints everything he's made, but i understand i'm in the minority.

props to reznor for saying what a lot of people are thinking.

Don't get me wrong, I totally agree with Trent, but it's one thing to think it and another to post it publicly. I don't agree with trashing other artists, music is subjective after all.

yea, true. it's tough though, i was thinking in my head exactly what trent said. so even though it should be subjective, i had the same reaction, and i've discussed it on other forums. i am glad to see someone say it publicly because i think it needs to be said.

there is some kind of line there somewhere between appreciating everything and being subjective, but then having the ability to call out something thats pure crap, and insincere.

While Cornell hasn't done shit that was worthwhile since Soundgarden (for the most part), it's pretty vagtastic of Reznor to do it on twitter.

Do it on a song or something, you bitch about everything else

Respect them both, but Cornell hasn't really done a whole lot lately.
