perhaps it's the 10 names you were asked to change, as opposed to 1 or 2

Of which one gets played. Oh well...its not a biggie as I never do anything wrong anyway. I just think its a BS reason for an official warning...would hate to be permbanned for something stupid now because I lost my 'freebie' with a naming issue that I honestly dont think should of been a problem in the 1st place.

The names aren't offensive. I can walk down the street and yell Tubgirl / Goatse / Lemonparty all day long and would never get in trouble. (unless its like 4am in the morning)

anyways...time to think of some new names. :)

Ask them how they know what a "Tubgirl" is and then remind them of Jesus' teachings about the plank in ones own eye before the splinter in your brothers eye.

I wouldnt worry about your 'freebie' warning all that much, I'm sure it goes away after some time. I was warned on the first day of WoW for calling someone a tool in general chat and and never had problems with bans/warnings after that.

They basically said, "Look...if you can't grow up and pick a name, we won't let you pick one. Please enjoy our random name generator!" Priceless.

Boy, that just never gets old.

i haven't had issues with being forced to change character names since City of Heroes. they were pretty crazy about making sure they weren't offending anyone with their naming policy. also, god help you if you tried to make a name that referred to any sort of pre-existing superhero/comic book character name.

among others, I had an electric blaster that looked like the emperor from star wars named Jehovah get name-changed, a pam grier looking claws scrapper named SexualChocolate changed, & a Grav/Kinetics controller named Willy ForceKin's name changed as well :(

I had a blaster named Phantom Phallus. I never got asked to change names.

I only picked my character name once. Those emails were all different servers(ie. Old characters that haven't been used in weeks).

Basically only Tubgirl on REM was "force switched" because someone got their panties in a bunch over it (random people in scens liked the name :shrug: ).


I only played one character really on REM (Tubgirl)...the other characters there are like Level 3 or 4 and such so I dont care about them.


I have an email to them asking to allow me to name my former Tubgirl character to a name of my choosing (told them the name). I realized that I have no desire to pay to play the game under a random name they gave me.

Its up to them if I continue or not at this point.

I honestly dont think they are that bad at all. :shrug:

I mean are they going to make anyone with the name "Jenna" change their name because hell if they look on Google they will see Jenna Jameson pics. I could see if my character names were "Pussyhunter" or "Assfuker".


But frankly I thought about it for a while and figured why should I pay for something and play as a name I don't want at all. I didn't send my email to them as a "Change my name or I quit your game" at all. In fact I didn't mention my plans at all.
I just put in the name change request. If they accept it..cool...I continue to play. If not...then I just stop playing.
The game isnt THAT important to me. It's fun...but it is taking away a little too much time.

I think the problem is that, in mythic's mind, you've clearly demonstrated you are unable to pick 'proper' names.

In the long run it's just cheaper for them to force you to use the name generator which does two things:

1. saves thier 10 dollar an hour customer service rep from spending an hour checking on all your names again

2. saves every paying customer from seeing 'Tubgirl' running around.
