G-Force 10-26-2008, 02:54 PM I've got 3 order characters to level 20ish. Tried just about every class up to level 10.
I've noticed that the scenarios are changing. What used to be a fairly well balanced team is now becoming ranged dps + MAYBE 1 or 2 healers (not just Order, I see this on Destro side).
CC is horribad. Way too fuckin many AOE roots, knockdowns, knockbacks, snares. I can only imagine how bad this gets in T4 with all the engineers and magus's doing their suck you in move. Sounds like fun to me. I'd rather be stunlocked or chain feared.
Its just too painful sometimes to level.
Keep sieges are semi-fun..if you're a ranged class. (DAOC keep raiding was hella fun, dont know whats missing here)
Scenario grinding is fuckin lame. WoW anyone?
They try to raise the experience and shit in ORvR...but they don't adjust the diminishing returns. So yeah, you get good xp and the beginning of a big fight but then virtually NOTHING after that.
Mythic needs to hurry the fuck up and do something. Yes, I know that this is a new game and all that, but MMOs arent new and Mythic isn't new to the MMO genre. They should have dealt with alot of this shit.
I for one welcome our RDPS overlords.

You really expected Mythic to do anything different? There was a reason why it was nicknamed "Dark age of Castalot". My Sorc could take on 5 doods solo with an ML9 pet and my roots/mezs, I could lock down people who didn't have purge up for almost 2 minutes strait.
The problem now is that Wizards still do insane amount of damage, but don't get set back on every spell now, in DAoC if someone got up to you close and you didn't have MoC, or quickcast you were dead. The problem I have in this game is, when I close the gap on a wizard it doesn't matter. I just get ae CC'd (roots etc) and even if the wizard stays in range of me he just has to drop his 2 dots, and detonate then cast his pbae a few times on me and Im done unless someone is spam healing me.
as for keep sieges I dunno man, feels exactly the same to me. Ranged sit back and try to pluck people off the top of the keep, tanks stay at the door and try to stun lock people who leave the keep or operate the ram. Maybe it was different if you played classic, but on ToA servers it was exactly like it is here.
SaintDude 10-26-2008, 08:47 PM I have to agree. The chained cc in this game is stupid by this point if you're a melee character. My marauder got taken out by a shadow warrior. Between the root, snare shot and knockback i literally couldn't get more than a few swings on that stupid class. Squishies should have some protection but this is getting obscene.
Dai Shinzo 10-26-2008, 09:37 PM It's not as bad as you make it out. Sure it's annoying but as someone who's played two mdps as mains now I still succeed fine solo and even more so with a group to help support.
Not that I don't wish they would have some sort of snare/root immunity in effect after I get snared and rooted like 5 times in a row.
And yes I think a lot of bitching comes from team stacking and/or not being able to play your class to the fullest. I see the same bitching in all the class forums about everyone and their class and you can totally see from some of the people who really succeed in playing their class(es) well that the game is only as broken as you make it PVP wise.

Instant cast roots, snares and knock backs with NO IMMUNITY timer has nothing to do with people "sucking" at their class. Its a problem because its fucking stupid, not because I don't come in first or second in dps every god damn scenario as a marauder.
Im glad that "solo" you can take out a bw, so can I. Thats not the freaking problem with not having immunity timers. The problem is when you go into a scenario on destro, there is 5 bw's 4 sw's and a few ib's and you can't get a swing in edge wise because all they do is rush, root move back. Once root breaks snare, another caster moves in roots, or ib does his kb.

haha during beta I got burnt out cause I was always grinding so I would be the highest destro player, so I installed eq1 again, holy christ I had logged out in time and couldn't remember how to get out.
=( I felt so fucking stupid.
GraphiX 10-26-2008, 10:51 PM EQ is still a fun game imo. It's just a bit overwhelming since its not as user friendly as WoW and WAR. But it has WAY more customization options and configuration. I think it's neat that they actually have an mp3 player built into it as well. There's in game settings that you can modify the font of everything in the game. The UI looks a bit dated but its also got built in UI importing options. I stuck with the old UI since the feel is nostalgic.
Let me know if you wanna dick around on there sometime. I can try to help you get your feet back, and the people still playing are all REALLY friendly. No WoWtards. :)
For example, after I entered the Plane of Knowledge I did an ooc asking if anybody was there. People responded and I even got 2 whispers from people wanting to help me out. One of them gave me 5000 plat and one of them gave me a whole lot of necro / magician / enchanter twink gear. And both of them lead me around all over the place showing me where to go to do everything, including potion vendors etc. I was fucking amazed.

Don't worry big guy, I ain't talking shit about your game that you hold so dear, but here is a clue on the clue phone for you, opinions differ, so do servers.
So on MY server, in MY opinion its so fucking lame that root, snares and kb don't have immunity timers because I feel its fucking lame that I can lose control of my toon for long periods of time since there are no "cures" for these cc abilities. I don't like CC at all I think its a way to give people with no ability to control their over extending a way to get out of jail free...
I would even rather they had a longer root, that came at the price of an immunity because the issue for me isn't the fact I am rooted, its that I can be root locked just as you could be stun locked in wow as a melee dps with only your throwing axe for damage against a ranged class that has ALL of its DPS coming from range.
Even if I am getting healed it doesn't matter as a front line tank/melee dps. I still have to MOVE FORWARD to contribute. If I am rooted, snared and knocked back with 0 immunity then yes, its lame. Im glad you could careless, or that it doesn't happen "for you", but its a huge complaint for a lot of players and it has nothing to do with skill. Im so sick of people trying to use "skill" as a term to hide bad game mechanic / class balance issue.

I get moments of chain roots happening back to back to back to back while I watch that guy I beat down to 2% run off safely but amazingly I somehow find the will to keep truckin on through just like WoW where yes you could be stunlocked from 100% to 0% there were far more times that didn't happen (and this is coming from someone who despises WoW PVP with a passion). Again maybe find some good support to help you out =] Those roots can be cleansed also. While it's russian roulette to do so it does happen.

just curious how "range" of melee compared to ranged dps has anything to do with rolling "gung-ho"
you realize roots are pbAE. Won't matter if I am running with 2-15 people I am still going to get rooted over and over because there is no immunity timer, nor is there a "cure" other then a skill you get at 19 (at least for marauders) w/ a recast.
Now I agree, its not ruining the game, but I am getting annoyed with it but mostly because It isn't something that isn't needed.. Its just a stupid mechanic that should be changed. If you are going to give a melee dps like Witch Elf, less/on par DPS as a caster and give them the same defense then there has to be a factor that makes playing high dps casters have the same "risk" in melee range as playing a melee dps has from ranged.
Right now its not like that because all the roots are in the hands of the ranged classes which means anytime that a melee class gets with in ranged of a group of ranged classes they run the risk of being perma rooted in place while they get blasted down and are unable to really defend themselves.
Adding an immunity timer makes ranged classes actually have to "think" instead of just spamming instant cast get out of jail free cards, you know, like shit I got rooted instead of standing 2 ft back while 3 buddies keep him rooted and I nuke him down, it should be, fuck I rooted him and now I better run next to a god damn healer or tank so he can be knocked down/away or a Snare class so they can snare them.
If anything they should have switched the damn CC around, and gave tanks the roots and casters the knock backs. Giving roots to tanks will allow them to stop runners, and putting a chance to break on it @ like 50% would make sure that people who are rooted wouldn't be in the same situation as a melee dps would now.
Knock backs for ranged dps would allow a SW for example to get a snare off, while giving the BW a choice of either nuking or running. If its going to stay the way it is now my theory for CC should be that a person can be "locked" down using multiple forms of CC, a root, then knock back, then snare etc, not root root root root.

While in a group people can root me all day long and I'll watch as my team assists and focus fires my target(s) as I watch the five BW's and 2 WP's beat on me and disappear with my TEAM support.
It's not always about you, me, I. Hell I love trucking through their lines and melting them like butter but I'm one part of my group. I don't mind it as much because I know my group is going to back me up and when I do get free those nerds on the other side are going to get rocked.
I mean winning 20-30+ games nightly in a row starts to even get boring and I feel bad for even attacking them while they are pushed up back to their spawn and no amount of them CC'ing me is going to stop it.
Goofy 10-27-2008, 07:59 AM I've only started to become burnt out on scenarios, mainly because its the same one - over and over again.
To compensate I've started hanging around in the oRvR areas near keeps and stuff ganking people 1v1 and man is it a blast.
Would be nice if they released something indicating how Renown worked in scenarios though, spending 10-15m and getting 120 renown after coming in top damage/KBs/solo kills is kinda silly.
