I have the perfect solution to the demo man's occasional overpoweredness with the sticky launcher. Don't change the clip size, damage, or range. Rather, make the sticky grenades only detonate when they touch a surface, be it a wall, floor, doorway, etc. This keeps the defensive demo's advantage because he should have enough time to place his stickies during setup. This would also keep offensive demos from spamming stickies over walls, and detonating them mid-air. By doing this, it forces the player to actually consider the grenade launcher a useful primary weapon, rather than a weaker sticky launcher as it is currently treated.


Final Result-

Sticky Launcher

* 8 rounds in the clip
* same damage
* same range
* remove ability to detonate in mid-air
* useful as a passive contact weapon


Grenade Launcher

* same damage
* same range
* useful as an active contact weapon


also you will find many other "lets nerf the Demo threads. too much crying.

I don't understand alot of this, I find the game pretty balanced, still not sold on the crits idea, nor the achievements, but they seem to balance pretty good from the two I have accomplished so far. The flare gun seem to complete the pyro imho.

Only thing I would say is the achievements should be easier, not everybody can play 5 hours a day.

Lol, by who? The grenade launcher is far superior to the sticky. These people need to learn how to fucking aim. If you can hit people consistently with grenades (hit them before the nade bounces), it's almost always a 1 hit kill. Do it well enough and there's almost no reason to ever play soldier.

They cry WAY too much over there. Unfortunately, some of the stuff gets through to Valve.

This is such a stupid justification. Why don't they complain about medics since the medigun is the "secondary" weapon. Or spies that never use the revolver. Its so arbitrary that the weapon the demo uses most must be in the slot1 position, but other classes don't need to abide by that.

Thats only true in average pubs. People who don't suck can dodge grenades and you end up just shooting air most of the time unless you are firing into a group or in a narrow pass. Stickies are the dependable damage dealers.

Anyways, if most of these people tried playing demo against a competent scout, they'd change their tune. Instead they play IR dustbowl 24/7.
