Soldier

how come no one says anything about how good it is? i recently started playing soldier(this week), and i've been doing better than i ever have on average with any other class. who else mains soldier? can i get some tips?

Soldier is the killer class, But when you play on 2fort it becomes a Spam fest of rockets trying to kill the sniper that's owning him. But its a bad ass class and aim for the feet for splash damage.

If you check out the player stats released once in a while, you'll see that soldiers have like 2x as many kills on average than any other class. It's simply meant to be the class used for killing people at any range.

It also helps the people around here since we're used to projectile weapons, leading our targets, and aiming for the feet anyways.

Learn to juggle.
Learn to rocket jump.
Rocket jump constantly when you have a pocket medic
Switch to shotgun to finish people off.

I think its too dependent on crits.

ur playing on servers full of nubs

good tips

juggling: shooting people into the air (by hitting the area by their feet) and then hitting them MA

rocket jumping: crouch and jump at the same time that u shoot the ground to rj higher/farther

get above ur opponents whenever possible so that even if u miss their bodies, they take splash damage from ur shot hitting the ground next to them.

be aggressive, BE AGGRESSIVE, BE AGGRESSIVE: if u see a medic out in the open, rocket jump to get closer to them and chase them down until u kill them, or until they retreat behind several teammates and/or ur low health/low ammo/will be in a very tough position. being aggressive is twice as important when u have a pocket medic.

Play on some no-crit servers. There are some sick soldiers that show up to pub on TF2F's no-crit server. Bastards 2-shot me every time.

Got the game a couple months back, got 150 hours on soldier already. Love this game. It's the first time since Tribes 1 i've been addicted to an FPS (of briefly Quake3, but went back to Tribes 1.) I got an oldschool quake1 background so i'm loving soldier. It's like playing quakeworld (net quake) in the old days except most people nerf their health and don't have rocket launchers. I love it..
