Pyro Compression Blast.

I think it's a fun idea... but it isn't as practical as maybe it should be. It has it's few uses, but I think the ammo cost is pretty high for what it's actual value is. Or maybe it's refire rate is too high or maybe both... I dunno.

Right now I think it's best function to is blast the Ubers out of range of each other. Like on Dustbowl if you hit the Uber'd Heavy the Sentry gun will throw him a ways back out of range.


Also, the extra 50 health on the Backburner tends to negate the weakened fire effect compared to the Regular Burner.

The Axetinguisher though... :D I like that (except when I hit a guy and it doesn't crit :( ) .

I use the blast to remove sticky's for my team or deflect incoming rockets.

I would agree that the ammo cost is too high, but the function seems just about right to me. Even if you can't separate a medic from his uber target or knock one of them off a ledge, there are a lot of places where you can prevent them from moving forward so they end up wasting most of the uber doing nothing. It's also fun to juggle the medic even if it does get you killed most of the time.

i've been trying to use the compression blast lately. it's got a pretty short range, i think its flame range. its pretty good for intel/sentry defense, but thats about it that i've noticed. the 50 health and 100% crits from behind is simply too good in most situations..

I always choose compression over backburner. you can disrupt ubers with compression and knock people off course...plus people get flustered when u compress then flame.

I made attempts to use the compressor to combat other pyros, mainly to push them back and switch to the shotgun quickly and blast them as they fly backwards. Sadly it's more effective than I thought it would because everyone is toting the Backburner and they usually don't think you'd use it on them and it would be a flame war of attrition.

But the compressor is a very fine art in terms of when/how to use it.

it's very fun to knock an ubered medic down a bridge

i use the compression blast to juggle people in the air for 30 seconds, which is way more entertaining than instantly killing them from behind

I like setting some one on fire, then juggling them while they burn before allowing them to crater, causing gravity to be the killer.
