i hate both sides of this argument. each sound like gigantic douchebags when trying to justify themselves and their assholish behavior. most of my friends are super into bikes too, so i have to hear this crap all the time

critical mass may have started as a good idea but its turned into a total shit show that does way more harm than good. at least in boston. HAY GUYS I'M BETTER THAN YOU CUZ I RIDE A BIKE

and i also fucking hate bikers who ride on the sidewalk. its called sideWALK. you're on a vehicle you belong in the road.

I've seen a lot of shithead drivers and a lot of shithead cyclists. Its not as if one group is 100% infallible in this argument. I ride my bike to save money on gas, not because I am worried about the earth. Obviously I am concerned about the current state of energy consumption, but there's very little I can do about that so I don't worry about it too much. Plus, riding my bike is more fun than driving and I get to park right next to the door of my building as opposed to parking and walking for fifteen minutes. I can seriously leave my house on a bike and my roommate can leave in his car and I will beat him to school by at least five minutes.
