It won't be ready for a couple hours, so feel free to make your way on over here.
Just so long as you don't show up on a bike, other wise I'll have to run your ass over as soon as you get here.
Too bad I'm stuck at work until 2PM.
fartiusstinkius 07-20-2008, 11:08 AM The worst is when you're at a crowded red light, and then a biker just rides right on up to the front of the line.
Are you using this as an example when the biker is in the bike lane? Regardless a biker in the front on the right can ride across out of the way better than a biker in the middle of the lane with the cars.....so really I don't understand at all what you're complaining about. It helps both sides.
Flunky 07-20-2008, 11:46 AM The worst is when you're at a crowded red light, and then a biker just rides right on up to the front of the line.
the person on the bike has just as much right to the entire lane as you do. if they are at a 4 way stop and are turning left, they are expected to get over to the left of the lane, in front of cars if needed.
I am in no way one of these critical mass faggotons (I don't even own a bike), but when you see a cyclist on a road they have every bit as much right to the entire lane as you do - they are doing you a favor of sorts by pedaling over to the right.
that said, I don't know that I have ever seen someone riding a bike that obeys traffic laws as well as your typical person driving a car - stop signs, signaling which way you are turning, etc. are all lost on them.
fartiusstinkius 07-20-2008, 11:54 AM I do my very best to be as anally retentive when it comes to obeying traffic laws while biking. Maybe it'll help diffuse the anger a bit. If some cars see a biker respecting traffic laws and cars, then maybe they're more likely to respect traffic laws and bikers. I think the antagonism between bikers and cars is retarded...it only become more and more untenable as bikers increase in numbers. Besides it's definitely in the biker's interest to avoid an accident...cars don't exactly lose that much out of a collision with a biker.
guard|an 07-20-2008, 11:59 AM If all bikers followed every law that is meant for a large automobile then it wouldn't make sense to be biking anyway. That's why these laws are being enacted. We won't stop doing critical mass until you all pay for our new bike paths. Thank you for your tax donations.
This guy got fucking rocked for stopping at an intersection.

I follow every law for bikes (that I know of) including stopping at stop signs, lights, yielding, etc. and it still totally makes sense to ride bikes around.
And yeah I would love if there were bikelanes everywhere. I'm glad to avoid car traffic whenever possible.

I almost follow all the rules for biking. I will zig and zag through and around traffic whenever possible if it isn't going to fuck with the flow of automobile traffic. I'll slow down for an intersection and go through it if it's safe enough to and it won't fuck with the flow of automobile traffic. I don't use hand signals because I need my hands on my brakes more than anything else. Maybe once I get a fixie I'll use signals.

I fucking love the idea of bike lanes.
I would bike in populated areas like the city if they had their own section.
bikes that ride on roads need to be insured like vehicles.
and the critical mass faggots can burn in hell.

 Yea I'll take insurance out on my bike... but it won't cover a wheel on your car if you hit me or I hit you.
Also what did critical mass ever do to you? It's a world wide thing that happens once a month, EVERY MONTH. At most you're inconvenienced by half an hour. Bikers are inconvenienced daily by drivers. Deal with it.
Or you could write your congressman and whine to him. He might care.
p.s. Critical Mass is a great place to meet some chicks

I'm talking about insurance proportionally equivalent to motor vehicle insurance that covers liability to other parties.
Critical Mass is yet another "counter-culture" invention that directs energy into irritating non-hippies rather than doing something productive. All these faggots want to do is annoy people and end up turning yet more people off their message.
Critical Mass = bad for the environment.

You're dumb.
good response, very convincing! saving the earth one opinion at a time, eh?
guard|an 07-20-2008, 01:06 PM You're dumb if you think critical mass hurts the environment. As far as the demonstration being counter-culture you're absolutely right. The transportation culture in America is a long way from being efficient or environmentally friendly. We're moving into an era where we no longer have an excess of wealth or energy resources. It's time to give the car a rest and use your feet or ride a bike until new forms of transportation come out.
I enjoy annoying drivers on the last friday of every month and I will continue to do so because it's fun and if one or two people think... "hey I should ride a bike too" then it's worth it. A lot of people agree with critical mass even when they have to sit at an intersection for an extra 3-4 minutes.
I don't understand why you're so against it. How does it negatively affect you or the environment?
Wowbagger 07-20-2008, 01:11 PM Uhh....
ever driven on a road where one douchebag on a bike is slowing up traffic for 30+ cars?
No.
No I haven't.
JuggerNaught 07-20-2008, 01:13 PM Critical mass is an irritation that isn't productive. Because of that it will never be more than that because people won't take them seriously.
You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. And if the first thing that people know about them or their organization is that they made them late for work, or 3-4 of the retards were beating on someones SUV, scaring them and their kids, it doesn't matter how positive their message is.

You're just mad because your fatass can't fit on a bike.
I bike and I hate most bikers and can totally understand people’s frustration with them. I would like to think that a few ruining for the rest of us but I really believe the mass ruins it for the few. I also just started running and I almost get hit by someone on a bike once a week.
As both a biker and a driver I agree with the above sentiment. Most people on bikes are fucking morons. They believe that they own the road, right of way uber alles.
When I am biking down the road and a car is behind me I always move as far to the right as I can to allow the cars to safely pass, and if there isn't room I will hop onto the sidewalk for a second or two if no one is walking. Although, for some reason there are idiot drivers out there who are terrified to come within 100 meters of a bike.
XTasy 07-20-2008, 01:22 PM i only hated them after i came to berkeley. anywhere else it's okay
