Juke 07-13-2008, 02:22 AM Update: If applying for engineer, must know how to build a level three sentry. jotun 07-13-2008, 10:22 AM do people actually use engineers in competition? i had the impression it was just soldier, demo, scout, medic, and maybe a sniper John the Jammer 07-13-2008, 12:27 PM Update: If applying for engineer, must know how to build a level three sentry. spy sappin' muh sentry Hellsfury 07-14-2008, 02:16 AM Atomic Penis + Kritzkrieg = Epic Awesome Multikill q0wn4g3 Juke 07-14-2008, 04:06 AM do people actually use engineers in competition? i had the impression it was just soldier, demo, scout, medic, and maybe a sniper I've seen every class used well in competition. Pyros are good on short respawn time maps because even if they don't kill people, they push them back a ton. Heavies just seal off an area and soak up a lot of damage and serve as a big distraction. And especially in 6v6, one kill at the right time can swing the tide of the entire match, so having a spy sneak a kill on a medic with uber or sapping a sentry or anything like that is worth the spot. robr0 07-14-2008, 11:45 AM I have never played a competitive match before... Why wouldn't an engineer be necessary? They own in pubs. Juke 07-14-2008, 01:56 PM I have never played a competitive match before... Why wouldn't an engineer be necessary? They own in pubs. Any decent team can destroy a turret pretty easily, it just takes some time and coordination. It's basically a speed bump, but it's necessary on a lot of maps. aznboi 07-14-2008, 03:49 PM 2fort in the intelligence room DarkSabreTribal 07-14-2008, 07:03 PM Sentries in the intel room were a valid strategy before the map got ammo/health spawns in the room outside the intel. Now sentries don't stand a chance in there without a combat class supporting. scandal 07-15-2008, 12:39 AM 2fort in the intelligence room Holy crap, ayz is multiplying. CarpeIppon 07-15-2008, 02:52 AM Sentries in the intel room were a valid strategy before the map got ammo/health spawns in the room outside the intel. Now sentries don't stand a chance in there without a combat class supporting. The sentry is mostly to stop scout/spy grabs. The health & ammo has not changed that at all. Defense at the ramp/hay room and/or control of the middle stops the combat classes. And if it doesn't, it either forces them to uber or buys you time for everyone else to collapse and protect the flag. Even then, a smart engy can often stuff 1 soldier or demo as long as its just 1 with no medic. Gmankuza 07-17-2008, 12:30 AM Sentry upstairs with fallback to flag room, imo. And every class can be effective in matches. Sure, some work better in certain situations, but we use them all, well. ]| ZeR0 |[ 07-18-2008, 02:00 PM WE MUST PUSH LITTLE CART! :brows: John the Jammer 07-18-2008, 04:02 PM zero do you where do you play? ]| ZeR0 |[ 07-19-2008, 02:52 AM zero do you where do you play? usually just random goldrush servers as of late. me n kobalt still play, should hop on man. | ||
