bad fps with tribesFTW

while playing tribesFTW in 1024x7xx resolution i get terrible fps running a 3ghz pent4, 1 gig ram, and a radeon x850Pro 256mb card. This is especially noticable when outside. it's like watching a slideshow

why are my fps like 20ish etc in trives? I just updated to the newest video card drivers


any help? :/

edit: the processor is hyperthreaded. not sure if that affects anything with affinity for the game, etc

this "only show posts from last day" bullshit makes this forum seem even more dead then it already is.

Let me get a little bit more specific with my ingame experience.

I hosted a server on broadside quickly, just to see when i experienced the most lag. When i'm inside my FPS soar and stay high, so everything is smooth there.

When i go outside (with and without hudbot - i tried multiple configs) and look around my fps take a drastic hit to something like 20 fps give or take. When i zoom in (even when i'm outside) my fps climb back up and the game becomes smoother.

I remember there being a setting that had to do with visual distance with the shape of the terrain, and if you jacked the setting up it would hit your fps. Not sure if that preference should really kill my FPS that badly.

My processor is hyperthreaded ( i do not know if this helps/hurts gaming hah ), and yes the computer is around 3-4 years old now. It's not the best around but it used to play tribes well and some newer games pretty well. Not sure if maybe i have a problem with my X850Pro or not


edit: fuck me. I tried it again and my fps (though still high) were a lot lower than 5 minutes ago. I jumped on getting 230+fps inside, with still shitty outside, to getting like 105 inside and shitty outside. i dont fucking know, i dont know shit about comps anymore haha :|

upon further inspection..

i cannot even get decent fps outside WITHOUT hudbot. I tried a clean (1.11) install, and still got shit fps outside with my X850Pro. wtfs, perhaps my video card is damaged? Is this possible to be partially damaged to affect certain aspects of a game? ;z

try removing your cpu, and remove the paste stuff. jerk off to some pics of kahula, then use the white stuff that comes out of your huge, vieny, log sized donger as paste on the cpu. smear it around with the head of your cock on the cpue, and reseat the fan.

i've heard people get upwards of 50% increase in fps using this homebrew shit.

I have a pretty simple config, and I get pretty shitt FPS when im in certain maps/servers.

If its a 24/24 server (full server) I get shitty fps
If its like 5-10 v 5-10 i get good. Lower the players the better the game play.

Intel 1.73ghz
1 gig of ram
128mb video card

I dont understand how a Pent 2 duo 450 processor with 64mb of ram and a voodoo video card runs better than a newer-up-to-date computer.

I had one of those Pent 2 duo 450, it was the bomb.

ATI cards suck at Tribes, or ATI users suck at setting them up for Tribes...
