Some tips:

Block with shield. Double-tap for buffs. Double-tap and hit block you'll quickly block with the buff (ssx spam ftw). Yea, it's like that. :brows:
Position is everything as a ToS. Whether solo or in a group, consider the class compositions and how best to utilize your timing and positioning. If you have a turrent (i.e. totem of set), max it's output by locking fuckers where you want them when you want them. In higher level group pvp, keep in mind you may need to focus on survival at the start as you may be the first target. Remember, you can get in the mix and just SSX spam.








Learn the nuances of healing mechanics:

1) Cone heals will NEVER stack, not from the same class, or multiple classes
2) The initial heal on a cone heal will not be applied if you already have the HOT from an earlier cast cone heal ticking away
3) The self heal / HOT on a cone heal is 1/2 as effective as the heal and HOT your teammates recieve
4) Non-cone HOTS will stack to a maximum of two. This can be inter or cross class. IE two non-cone hots from a TOS can be active at the same time. One non-cone TOS and one non-cone BS can also be active at the same time. If You have 2 TOS and one bear shaman. Two TOS cast their non-cone, then bear shaman casts his non-cone, the bear shamans newer hot will override the hot with the smallest duration left(this needs to be tested more)
5) 30 second recast heals (Vitalizing jolt for TOS) place a debuff on everyone healed preventing them from being healed by that specific heal again for one minute. You can have different classes chain big heals though if needed.
6) All hots have a 15-20 second duration, and cast fairly fast. This means ot maximize your contribution to the group, you need to remain active during the time your HOTS tick

Thunder vs Lightning?

I think it depends on your playstyle and testing things out. I've leveled at thunder and feel it's just amazing to basically PASSIVELY heal/aoe everything. Having multiple aoe dmg/heal ticks & a totem up while you sit there blocking with evade buff is crazy.

When sneaking up on them attack before they start fighting and get all their heals off.

If you intend to kill a ToS, you have basically 2 choices.

1. Hit them extremely hard and fast, and stun lock them while blowing all your cooldowns.

2. Hold them at range and pelt the fuck out of them and wait for cooldowns until after you see him do a big heal.

I run away (DT).

By simply face-rolling on the keyboard, you should win 95% of the fights as a ToS.

At the moment I just laugh.

I got bitch owned by a necro today too...8 levels below me. 73 DT vs. a lvl 65 Necro.

Fucker just stayed in the water, nothing I could do but watch my HP bar drain.

I like listening to necros in guild chat laugh about the things that they are doing with Corpse Detonation, nothing like hearing about people being able to destroy an entire group with little to no effort to make me feel special.

i just tweaked it a bit more for post-patch

ToS could be one of the cheapest classes in the game in the 50-60 lvl range.

I remember a 1-1 pvp match vs a lower lvl ToS, who I tried to gank where I unloaded every combo I had and watched as their health bar moved pitifully (Im a HoX). Meanwhile my health went from full to zero in like 5 seconds. I think it was a near flawless victory.

Now in the 70s, its like a complete 180.

The game balance changes every 5 lvls or so for no rhyme or reason, and its extremely irratating.

OK, so... i'm convinced that an ultimate PvP groups oughta stack 2 ToS.

One with cyclone/totems: 41-33-5 (http://feats.goonheim.com/tempestofset/8227) or 41-38-0 (http://feats.goonheim.com/tempestofset/8238)

One with thunder/general: 13-46-20 (http://feats.goonheim.com/tempestofset/8231)

Combine with a PoM, Necro and Herald... with anything else to finish. Yum.

Ya, and the pillar feat can make up for that. To me, the main nerf is on the crit dmg going from 60% to 40%.

I really dont like the cyclone/totems for group pvp yet. Maybe im just not used to all my new binds and the abilities, but i had a rough time in minigames with that setup. It might be better in more organized groups tho.

I may go with a brainspasms setup (http://feats.goonheim.com/tempestofset/8413) with stronger survival/healing feats.

i was looking forward to getting my ToS levelled up but since the game performance gets shittier with each subsequent patch ( 4 CTD's last night ) I'm gonna cancel for a little while.
