Making some decent dosh?

Just hit 40ish with one of my chars. Looking around i'm seeing a lot of 40ish people with their mounts.

I'm a little curious how they managed to get 3 gold together in such a short time (the manual, plus the horse).

I have a mere 30 silver. How are you guys getting enough cash to afford your ride? Any suggestions would be great.

I am 50, and I probably would have 3g if

1) I looted every mob
2) I didn't spend the majority of my income on pots at low levels.

and

3) if bags were even remotely priced properly

My only theory right now is that guilds are so desperate to get their cities going, resources might sell well. Only problem is it has to be done manually until the trader is up.
