These are the steps for each faction to finish the tutorial. I know many of us are done with it already, but just in case someone is new.

Indian:
step 1: 2 farms @ level 2
step 2: warehouse and granary
step 3: 2 level 2 mines for each resource
step 4: barracks
step 5: 10 archers

Cowboys:
step 1: 2 farms @ level 2
step 2: warehouse and granary
step 3: 2 level 2 mines
step 4: barracks
step 5: build rampart, hideout, & 5 farmers.

Mexicans:
Step 1: 2 farms @ level 2
Step 2: Warehouse & Granary
Step 3: 2 level 2 clay, iron, wood
Step 4: Barracks
Step 5: Ramparts, 5 Panchos

the benefits of completing the tutorial are

premium account for one week
25% increase in resource production for (one week?)

if anyone can post the resource bonus for completing each step that would be good.

i think it was like 200/200/200/100 or something for the last one...

Anyone think there's value to getting all resources up to 3, maybe food to 4 before you complete the tutorial?

if you're indian and there are abandons near you, it's best to wait until you can build 10 guys (1 every 2-3 hours).. so it's worth spending a day saving resources then 2 hours before you'll have enough to purchase 10 you start pumping them all out (so you maximize food production)

the resources I've gained farming vs building up is no comparison - get to those 10 guys and your village just exploads

IMO get army to raid asap and concentrate on the resources to support your armies - just keep food high enough to support bldg while you work on an army to raid. once you are pulling in like 300-500 / resource per raid you can start upping everything else.

My indian army has 20 archers so far and i am pulling in 300 / resource per raid - i want to get about 10 more then start working on everything else. I am like 2 days behind vault/jomo i think :(

again, this is only a functional strategy with indians.

:( true, seems like mexican/cowboy needs to research first real attack unit to raid but raiding is still such a boon to resources it seems like it should be a priority (at least with all the npc targets around)

Ponchos are actually a lot better than farmers though, but you're probably right on that. I need to build an academy as soon as I crank out enough ponchos to start raiding nearby ghost towns for supplies.

Farmers are not even a third as good the next best unit for attacking. Basically you should by no means use that strategy if you are a cowboy, at least not for awhile. Approximating the math, it will take you 15-25 raids after getting the next best military unit (the soldiers) for you to pay off the cost of getting afore mentioned soldiers (including buildings). It therefore should probably not be focused on for awhile.
