Alright I did some basic math.

It is not practical to raid enemies, even NPCs with farmers. You require approximately 40 of them before they begin breaking even with their raid costs. This is mathematically unfeasible. This is because they are extremely poor attackers and carry very little.

That said, soldiers begin breaking even at approximately 4 or 5. Each one will begin making profit from your investment at 11 raids. This means that your entire raiding force will require one reasonably stocked bandit village with no defenses, raped entirely, to make up its costs. Farmers are fine to throw along with a soldier compliment, but remember. Farmers alone aren't worth raiding squat. You shouldn't count them as even having offensive power, they just carry stuff.

Edit: To the newbie above me, you begin making a profit when attacking with 6-7 units of archers then begin making it extremely quickly afterwards.

Hey, i am not a noob. I was simply testing what was actually needed to start raiding. Why would wait until I have 10 archers to start attacking empty cities with no defenses? When my next set of archers are finished I am sending out 6 unless anyone else here has tested how many archers you should use against NPC cities.

There is a combat simulator, stop wasting your archers.

I don't think anyone has any defense in this game.

45 point village just out of protection - Raid
40 Archers
0 losses, 524 W/C/I, 629 Food.

... It's no surprise your 40 fucking archers are eating up all the shit to my 10 farmers... Looks like I'll just slowly tech to soldiers :(

Okay how the fuck does this work?

I attack a farm next to me.

Raid : 4 Ponchos
Attacker's luck : 20.8%
Casualties : 1

And I do it again...

Raid : 5 Ponchos
Attacker's luck : 1.8%
Casualties : 2

Fuck the simulator, someone explain how I use a smaller party and more luck and lose less troops than when I use a larger party and less luck.

Luck is just that, luck. I believe its random per attack. Someone said anywhere from -25% up to +25% in the other thread.

Well I'm just keep on sending my ponchos out and re-making them as they die. It's not feasible probably but they are carrying their maximum weight home every time.

Maybe I'll leave it for 16 hours and then use the stockup to make a bunch more. According to the simulator I need 7 Ponchos to avoid dying. I'll run them through on the worst case scenario with luck and see what I get.

Figures, with -25% luck on an undefended Cowboy settlement I would need 28 Ponchos to negate any possible casualty. Same with Pistoleros...

build up like 10 ponchos before attacking if you are losing ponchos. and try attacking indian or mexican settlements (likely no ramparts so no defense)

The closest abandoned village is Cowboy to me. And it'll be a while before I can get up to 10 ponchos. Maybe a day of production and an extra farm upgrade or towo to support them.

well id stay away from farming the cowboy until you can stand to lose a poncho or two

ok i sent my first raid against an empty indian town and lost two of eleven ponchos, then my second raid of 14 lost one. using the simulator and given luck numbers the only way i could have taken those losses is if i ran into night-time protection both times.

the first attack hit a little after 4pm local time (says 10pm in the battle report) and the second attack around 1:45 am local, or 7:45am server. so how long does this night-time protection last and when is it? this is killing my raiding potential

I have an active guy right next to me. Cowboy. 51 points.

I'm Indian. 59 points. 13 archers and counting. No problems with farming yet. Advice on taking out this neighbor?

If you hit him before he can gather forces you will be fine. He might be competent, but there are more offensive advantages than defensive. He will almost certainly fall faster than you.

You won't be able to avoid casualties if he has units, but if you attack him once that should take care of it. Following it with raids will keep him dead.

Sounds like something that will really hamper my raiding abilities. Maybe I'll just go along with raiding all those gray villages before he can raid them himself...

Outgrow him that way.

If my raid comes back with 1649/1650 does that mean the village is empty? or did one of them not feeling like carrying something? It's a 3 hour trip and I don't want to send them off again to come back with nothing. All the bandit villages around me are low/empty.

Depends on the size of the village. Theoretically he could still have at least another 3200 worth of resources if his warehouses are stuffed to the rafters at level 1.

1200 @ level 1 * 4 = 4800 worth of total resources. Assuming you raided evenly, that means you hit 400 of each leaving (4*800) 3200 of each resource left.

Ok thanks, I have nowhere else to send them anyway. Until the bandits near me replenish their resources.

being one off from max doesnt mean the raid will be empty next go. keep raiding that spot til the returns are reduced by like half or something.

The two World Wars interrupted the OYC, but since the Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games, when the OYC resumed, almost every Olympic Games has hosted the OYC.
