at least i think its new. every raid instance has a 10 and 25 man version. 25 man version obviously having superior loot. great idea so the majority of the playerbase can actually see all the endgame content in the game. i'm sure the hardcores will be crying about it.
HaPpY 05-09-2008, 05:40 AM great idea.... they should make a heroic version of the 10 man which provides the same loot as the 25 man.

Sigma 05-09-2008, 06:29 AM This seems pretty foolish. The point of gathering 25 people and obtaining superior loot is to be able to advance to the next set of content. If that's no longer necessary, it discourages 25-man content.
Turn it around and look at it another way. What if they introduced a 40-man Sunwell Plateau? Same exact thing, but with a higher player requirement. Even if it offers superior loot, what is the point if you're already done with everything?
The only way this would make any sense at all is if PvP rewards were removed, since that would be the only way to make it more rewarding doing the more difficult content. (Aside from a sense of superiority over 10-manners and slightly shinier loot.)
Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb.
Don't be so lazy and actually tailor separate content to 10-man compositions instead of dragging every instance down to that level.
icZer 05-09-2008, 06:35 AM /shrug, it's a smart move really. even if the hardcores quit over it, i'm pretty sure they would gain more players overall due to all the casual love.
Jamezeo 05-09-2008, 07:16 AM i don't understand why the "hardcores" would quit
the 25 will have superior loot, what more do the raid faggots wants
god i hate "professional raiding guilds"

Superior loot to do what with exactly?
What would it enable us to do that 10-manners wouldn't be able to?
Hardcore people can suck my nuts. I don't have 6 hours a day 5 days a week to do the 25 man stuff. Why shouldn't I get the opportunity to see those things? Did I not pay for the game? Do I not spend the monthly fee? Hell I think it's bullshit that the loot is different.
Sigma 05-09-2008, 07:31 AM That's like saying that people who only play 5-mans or even solo should be able to clear the game for the reasons you stated. Are people forgetting how MMORPGs are supposed to work?
More players have always been required for the higher end content.
You casuals can fuck off and go play a console RPG.
--chaingun 05-09-2008, 07:32 AM Because the loot isn't the main motivation for them raiding 6 nights a week.
It's the progression and the bragging rights...they get satisfaction out of knowing other people aren't doing the same content which is really strange to me but that's how it goes.
Idk, I probably won't be playing WotLK because every time they raise the level cap it's kind of saying "fuck balance, spend more money." PvP will be retarded for 8 months and just when they start to get it right, the next expansion will come out and fuck it all up again.
Raising the level cap and adding more abilities and allowing people to spend more points in the existing talent trees is quite possibly the dumbest thing a developer can do in terms of game balance.
As for the 10 and 25 man stuff, I like it a lot. I say enjoy the game in whatever way you can...as long as that enjoyment doesn't stem from being glad other people can't do what you can do, simply because they don't have the time or the inclination to do so. Having said that, I'd enjoy the game a lot more if most of said people just quit :P
Sigma 05-09-2008, 07:38 AM Take a simple example like any platformer game. Should players who don't have the skill to complete level 1 be advanced to level 2? No.
Skill in a traditional platformer is replaced with player organization and coordination in MMOs. Making what could be considered 'the next level' in an MMO that much easier to achieve just cheapens the experience all around.

If that's your argument, it lost validity a long time ago.
I have a feeling the encounters in the 10 man are not going to be exactly the fucking same in difficulty and structure as your 25 man encounters.
A group of the casual 10 man scrubs are certainly not going to be able to enter one of your hardcore 25 man raids which you've so skillfully mastered.
The gear from one instance is your attunement to the next. It would enable you to do the next 25 man instance which will not be the same as the 10 man instance in difficulty.
I would think you hardcore guys would be happy for this change; it gives you another group of players to shit on and that seems to be the only thing keeping you around.
Falhawk 05-09-2008, 07:43 AM I fucking love this idea.
PessimiStick 05-09-2008, 08:29 AM I don't think I really care, honestly. It will open up an easy way to gear alts, but outside of that (and I'm usually too lazy to play my alts anyway), it doesn't really affect me.
Falhawk 05-09-2008, 09:00 AM it won't affect most of the hardcore raiders
it just gives some of them something else to cry about.
10 million people play wow. Nobody gives a shit about the few thousand who want to brag. Whee you spent the last 4 days doing nothing but raiding and shitting. Want a cookie? I want to play the game I'm paying for.
JustinCase 05-09-2008, 09:30 AM you guys get really angry about this stuff
PessimiStick 05-09-2008, 09:31 AM you guys get really angry about this stuff
It's usually the casuals getting pissed, oddly enough.
DeadlyRabbit 05-09-2008, 09:32 AM Good idea, great for guilds that on the border of having enough people for 25 mans and have to cancel raids because 3 people can't make it that night, this way they can break into 2 raids and at least do something and get some upgrades.
JustinCase 05-09-2008, 09:38 AM srsly
