I saw someone mention in another thread that they hit 70 in 3 days /played. How the fuck?

I started a warlock recently and I've been following James' Horde guide and I'm at about 2.5 days at 36.

Those guides are stupid. You probably spend more time reading what to do and making sure you're going in the exact right order than you do actually questing. Lightheaded and QuestHelper are all you need.

As for speed, my mage did 1-60 in 4 days /played and I thought that was a pretty efficient pace without a lot of rest. 3 days to 70 is BS without powerleveling.

it depends on help. if u have a s3 pally and mage helping u, you can do it in like 30 hours. otherwise you're going with LH like poor mentioned.

If you're not being powered through quests/instances by higher levels you'll obtain the fastest levelling speed by:

1. Keep your gear up to date. Don't wait for quest upgrades, hit the AH and upgrade your gear as often as cash allows.

2. Don't get sidetracked. Instances are a waste of time unless you have a higher level running you through and/or full rest bonus. Don't wander aimlessly, have a plan.

3. Don't make 3 trips around a zone for quests when you can do it in one circuit. If you're not following a guide make sure you're not having to double back repeatedly because you neglected to notice that there were two quests in one location.

4. Use your max DPS spec for your class, even if you really want to be something else in the end game. Take talents that increase your DPS or reduce your downtime. Ignore fluff or selective use talents.

5. If you take gathering skills other than skinning, don't worry if you fall behind. You can catch up later when you get an epic mount.

You should mention you don't need to worry about gear until lvl 30. You lose a lot of coin upgrading before that, you level so quickly you'd be changing shit out literally every level.

Well, if you're going for the lowest possible time /played till 70 then money shouldn't be an issue. Upgrading every level isn't going to break the bank at the lower levels.

If you are leveling an ALT, buy a blue weapon for every 5 levels or so and put fiery or some kind of cheesy enchant on it.

Line them up so you've got like a lvl 15 blue axe, lvl 20 blue sword, lvl 25 blue mace, level 30 blue polearm, etc. etc...

If you are an enchanter then enchant them all in a row, or get your friend to do it. Takes no time at all.

Then you can have high DPS for your level the whole game. Makes leveling super fast. It may seem like a waste since you're out leveling your weapon so fast, but the reason you are outleveling them so fast is because you HAVE the badass weapons to level fast with. Fiery enchant on a lvl 16 blue 2 hander makes you pwn mobs.

If you have the cash that is. I honestly don't think it's a waste at all to do this. Investing in top of the line weapons is a great way to level quickly.

Also, what Fool said. He levels really fast.

False, I used James' guide at first too, but after the XP boost it's really not worth it to follow the guides to the letter anymore. Just quest until your eyes bleed, they give out MONSTROUS amounts of XP and extend your rested like mad so that you can grind like a maniac.

Just keep a browser tab open for Wowhead when you need to track down a quest objective and you're pretty much good to go. Even an idiot like me can do 2 levels in a day with no rested, easy, thanks to the friggin' XP boost.

On a semi-related note, holy SHIT, Hinterlands has so many more Horde quests than Alliance. I may never leave until the last few dregs go grey...

I started a warlock recently and I've been following James' Horde guide and I'm at about 2.5 days at 36.

I dont know if this is changed in 2.4 but here are the 2 leveling exploits I know of:

Mob Tagging - This is done by hitting a mob (preferably elite) once and having several people kill it who are not in your group. The mob should be yellow/orange to you and green to the people killing it. If its grey to them you will not get full credit. Obviously this takes more resources than the average player has.

Instance Killing - Go in an instance with a 70 in your group. The 70 pulls the mob to the zone doors, gets him to 1% health and zones out. The person being leveled kills him and gets full xp credit. You can also have a 70 run you through an instance, have 3 others for group bonus, and go that route but that one just doesn't seem that effective as zoning out.

I've tried these with some success but really unless you have a friend who is willing to help its not worth the time getting this all set up.

That's what LightHeaded + TomTom are for.

Direct access to Wowhead comments + coordinates that will be waypointed on your map.

Was just going to post/suggest this.

It's ridiculous how much easier those two addons make the leveling process. I'd highly recommend them both.

Depends on your realm, on Deathwing lvl 5 - 15ish greens are largely unseen on AH and if there are some of value (Monkey, Bear, Tiger, Eagle, etc.) then they will usually be 3g - 5g a piece. And in two good days of playing you can usually get to 22 - 25 from lvl 1, seems like a waste to upgrade constantly in that timeframe.

But hey if you want the bleeding edge fastest time then by all means, but you should keep in mind if your AH is lacking in such greens you may end up farming them yourself on a main.

TourGuide is possibly the best leveling addon ever.

Hit 40 last night, like 2 days 16 hours with a decent amount of dicking around. Things should hopefully pick up now that I finally got a mount and Dark Pact (not that I had much downtime before).

I also have over 220 gold somehow, friend of mine gave me 3 18 slot bags, a 20 slot shard bag and 10g to start me off.

Oh, and the blue weapons thing would be a great idea if I actually used my weapon. Warlocks aren't gear dependent at all when leveling.

That's still amazing.

instance power leveling is definately the way to go until you hit 40. Have a 70 priest or warlock pull 5-6 mobs to the door, dot them up, then zone out. The dots will kill the mobs, and you'll get full credit. It takes some practice, but definately worth it.

Start at SFK at level 12 (I think it's the lowest you can enter at). It'll take around 2 hours to get to 20. Once there, head to SM and repeat until you can enter ZF.

I did level 56 in 25 minutes on my rogue without outside assistance. Just one of those rare levels following my level guide that you wind up with like 15 turn ins all at once.
