I have been weight training for over a year now with the exception of some downtime during the holidays and picked it back from once a week to 5 days. The thing is, my arms are somewhat bigger, but not buff? I guess. I have tried lighter weights/more reps, heavy/less, heavy/more.

I used to do curls/hammers every other day. I went to twice a week. Now I am hearing that it should only be once a week?

am i making sense? I am up for suggestions

Currently taking aminos, glut, protein, omegas, etc

what do you mean by buff?

muscular looking? if that's the case you need to cut bf%. I have bigger arms than my brother by an inch but he looks more 'buff' cause of his lower body fat % making his muscles look more defined.

im not really sure what you are asking

if you are worried about "overtraining", 6-9 sets in a workout for small muscle groups is acceptable

arnold used to do like 15sets of biceps tho

and there is nothing wrong w/ arms twice a week

thx to you both for your responses..i will work on cutting down BF again. Last year my BF was a lot lower and my arms werent defined..i called it buff but i meant defined.

also..i read that the arms being smaller muscles you shouldnt work them out but once a week since pulldowns, benching and other routines still work out the arms, which i why it said to do curls once a week..but if twice is cool..im cool

I do a moderate arm workout twice a week.
I work biceps using a variety of other exercises but I still work in a few exercises because it feels like they are lagging. 1 day a week I do
2x8 barbell preacher
2x8 dumbell hammer
3x6 barbell curl

then 1 day a week I do
2x8 chin ups
2x8 barbell curls

I don't bother doing anything else for my triceps cause they get a good workout already from press, bench, dips and frankly they're tired.

i do bi's and tri's on the last day of my 5 day split so i always get a day or 2 of rest after arms. it consists of all supersets
1)preacher curl / close grip bench, 4sets 8-12 reps
2)bb curls / weighted dips 3sets 8-12 reps
3)seated db curls / more weighted dips 8-12reps
4)isolation db curls / rope extensions - 3 sets 8-12reps

heres a current pic. grrrrr!

overtraining is gonna be different for everyone...

I'm sure you are training to get bigger\better looking. fucking hard to gauge progress like that... work on increasing weight... able to curle 45's now? I guarantee that when you are able to curl 55's your arms will look better, and you will actually be able to tell if you are making progress as you work towards your goal, where as now a carb defeciency, body fat change, or water retention change will all obfuscate your results.

I wouldn't work out arms 2x a week but I dunno everyones different.

I feel like mine get plenty of workout from 2x row days / bench day / overhead press day/ so I have a light day where I work grip and biceps

bi's and tri's once a week, arms are pretty big and defined

focus hard on tri's since they are the majority of your arm size

i have been cutting bf last couple of weeks. I may have lost 10+ lbs so far. My question for the day is..does it matter if im switching up the weight when im doing dumbell curls/hammers? I rotate between the 25 and 40 lb'ers. I may do 2 sets of each so it boils down to 2 x 10 @ 25 and the same @40.

maybe its not enough?

if you want growth you gotta lift heavy and to failure...

instead of 40s do 50s and fight for the last reps of each set

honestly dbell curl and hammer curls aren't enough of a workout, i do standing barbell curl, dbell curl, preacher curl, concentration curl + burnout for bi day

this is truth... big arms are from big tri's.

i do standing and seating barbell too with EZ-Curl with a 45's

i only own 25's and 40's(dumbells) :)
