Greetings, some of you know who I am, others will not, I own and operate Tribes2Maps.com and TribalOutpost.com. I have been following the development of Fallen Empire: Legions since GarageGames announced it and ever since the tech demo that sent this community wild. I have a couple questions for everyone.

First, will you be playing this new "tribes like" game, especially since it is through a browser?!

Second, if the game allows for user contributed content (ie: maps, styles, scripting), would it be beneficial to have another "tribes2maps.com" like website for the user content?

Thank you a head of time for all your input.

Why don't I know if you are going to play this? Perhaps because I am not telepathic? :)

Legions is the spiritual successor to the Torque starter project.

I believe that even if Tribal war hates it, there will still be a large enough player base where that community would benefit from a site like tribes2maps. I have already seen some pretty cool maps that weren't supposed to be released but they were during this beta phase.. it has loads of potential.. I say go for it!

According to "inside information" as said by the marketing team at IA, "only 10% or so of the people actually care about Legions."

Of course these are the same marketing people who call a 1000 user invite an "open beta."

Sfphinx, you've done a great job with TribalOutpost and T2Maps, I'm sure you'll do just as well with Legions. Apparently there is user created content, so I say go for it.

A site like that would only help.

I strongly believe that the 10% is true. 1000 user invite is the number of people that were being pushed into another wave of the open beta... over 1100 are being added to the push tomorrow. The Open Beta will be available to everyone.

Back on topic, as I said and as Shadow said before me, the site will only benefit the community that does/will exist for Legions.. use the exact same template as your Tribes2maps sight. I used to frequent the site and it was very easy to use, you have over 2 million downloads, and I think the same setup would be awesome and save you time.

I personally don't see Legions as anything but a time-killer like most of the other games on IA.
The shitty interface, and horrible idea for dedicated servers of IA totally caters to the casual gamer, and really prevents any competitive play (no tournament mode, etc).
It's too bad because I really think GG is on to something - they are totally being held back by IA.

Garage Games / Instant Action doesn't give a fuck about Tribalwar.

That's probably one of their greatest assets at this moment.

I'll give it a whirl, but I have to admit to being a bit dismayed at the dedicated servers, browser-based, limited (if any) competition aspects of Legions.

For lack of a better term, it's being developed as a web-based arcade game. Not really an in depth tactical and strategical team-orientated game as T1 & T2 were.

I think that if you haven't played it yet, the things that have been said about it can be pretty scary and intimidating when it comes to picturing it on a Tribes like level. Once you play it though (fullscreen) you honestly forget it is browser based. Besides playing on a server across the world, when I play on US servers I get great pings and the gameplay (especially in 16 player servers) can be awesome. I have had a blast playing it so far. IA is still trying to figure out how they will be releasing dedicated servers and I know it worries everyone but a lot of people were apprehensive to playing an FPS in a browser but that turned out fine (for some of us). So most likely for the average gamer IA's implimentation of the ded. servers will do just fine. However Tribalwar doesnt fall in the average gamer category I guess.
