You know what, I just realized today that i suck at playing while standing up. It just makes me left hand miss a lot of notes and buzz a bit more. I think the past few years of bedroom playing has made this happen. My guitar might be too low but I hate having my strap short so i'm not sure what to do haha. I probably just need to play standing up more often but this totally sucks. Definitely have to work on that... Anyone else have this problem?

No big deal just thought it was interesting

Tighten your strap up. You're not cool enough to sling it low.

whenever i sit down and play my les paul it just feels awkward, it has like no 'body support', so i guess i'm the opposite

but, sitting+playing with a strat is very comfortable

When you sit and play, make sure you are sitting in a chair with a straight back, and practice good posture. After a few months you will find that your standiong playing has improved.

i am definitely cool enough, but i don't know about good enough heh heh

actually it's just more comfortable weight distribution wise (heavy ass les paul) and having it tightened up just feels weird even though it allows me to play well. I think the sitting in a nice chair with good posture mentioned above is probably what i need to work on

I notice a difference when I stand too. The trick is to practice standing up, and adjust your strap so that when you're playing, your left wrist is straight. If it's bent at all when you're playing, you're doing it wrong.

I actually play better standing up.

A help tip is to put the strap on while sitting down and tighten it up to where you play while sitting down and it will be at about where you want when standing up.

I use a les paul and when I sit I sit at normal chair height, but I put a CD muffin, or something as high as one, under my right foot and I put a wallet, cellphone, or roll of elec tape in my right pocket and that keeps the guitar from sliding away and down my leg.

As for standing, you def need to keep the guitar strapped high enough so your forearm and wrist angle are more parallel with the strings and bridge.

If you go for the low-slung height and you don't have the lanky arms to reach, you'll attack the bridge area from an angle where you can downpick easy, but not uppick as easy because your wrist is already angled sharply and can't articulate an even amount upwards.

I play sitting down @ the PC when creating and playing around but at band prac we all stand up cause that's how it is IRL and you don't get used to the ease that sitting brings.
