WSOP Final Table Moved to November

Final Nine Players Will Play Down to a Winner Nov. 9-10 Instead of July 16

The World Series of Poker today officially announced that the final table of the 2008 main event will not compete on July 16 as originally scheduled but, instead, the players will reconvene Nov. 9-10.

The idea behind the change is to create more buzz, and, according to Jeffrey Pollack, the Commissioner of the WSOP, this will allow fans and viewers to ask “who will win” instead of seeing “who won.”

The rest of the 2008 WSOP schedule will remain the same. Further details on this and more are going to be relayed to Card Player via a conference call later today. Check back in at CardPlayer.com later, as more information will be posted.

This is pretty gay in my opinion. This isn't poker anymore; they are hollywooding this shit way beyond. What if Doyle Brunson makes the final table and dies?

Seriously, wtf is wrong with these people... Its a poker tournament, broadcasting it is good for everyone, but cutting a tournament into pieces allows for preparation before the final table, among just being a shitty setup...

they've been talking about doing this for a while. i really didn't see it happening though. granted, this won't directly effect 99.98% of us, but its just gay to have the tourney split up like this.

I can't even begin to think how this is going to effect the play of a final table. i guarentee you see players selling large %s of themselves in those 3 months.

You could also probably throw out any reads or tendancies you've picked up on other players. You can improve your game a lot in 3 months, especially if you know you have a multimillion dollar FT hanging above your head. This throws out the dynamic of good players really knowing their opponents because they've played with them over the past few days.

This keeps getting worse and worse the more i read. it sounds like there will be no live PPV anymore(which is much better coverage than the non PPV) and they're breaking for the night after they get down to 2, then airing the ESPN coverage the next day.

the purchase of all the rights to the WSOP by Harras Entertainment was the begging of a giant fucking mud slide turning the WSOP into shit.

First it started with the change of the bracelet. Then you hear about guys having 10 WSOP bracelets. The only bracelet from the WSOP that should be spoken of in that way is the No limit main event. It really pissed me off when they changed from then old gold bracelet to the colorfull niggered out bling bling thing they have now.

So true. The ME is a luckshoot now. But, for tradition sake HORSE #1, ME #2, Euro ME #3. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to luck sack my way into a victory in any of them though ;)
