(AP) -- Sales of Blu-ray disc players haven't been helped by maker Toshiba's capitulation over producing the rival HD DVD format, research firm NPD Group said Wednesday.

that and the units still cost a lot by "normal consumer standards". you can get a DVD burner for your computer for 20 bucks, and a stand alone DVD player for your tv for like 30-40. BD-ROM drives are now $130 on newegg and burners are still around $270 for entry level drives, and the TV hookup units are more still. also dont forget, you have to spend extra money on an expensive TV and a 5.1 sound system for it to even be worth having a blu-ray drive in the first place, since anything less will just look and sound like another dvd

In reality, I couldn't care any less. If people feel the absolutely must have the newest and latest, they should pay the premium without whining about it.
