New Band

So Sass and I haven't been playing out with her band since our bass player got into a car accident and is now paralyzed. It fucking sucks - I miss the hell out of playing with her band.

But I gotta do something. So this other band was looking for a bass player and I figured what the hell. As it turned out, the guy who was subbing for them on bass decided to stay full-time, and so I was turned down for the bass spot. But the singer mentioned that she was looking for another guitarist....

To make a long story short, I checked out the music, which is much heavier than anything I've played before, and it was pretty cool. Singer has a great voice, and the songs are pretty good (but could use improvement). I auditioned with them last week and got the email today asking me to join. I think I will.

The sound is modern metal, with a little bit of a goth influence. In addition to eyeliner, what gear, dear Tribalwar Music Collective, should I consider playing?

So far my proposed rig is this:

My Parker Fly:

My Sunn Model T:

A Pod XT Live:

And maybe a 2x12 of some sort. Maybe a Marshall 1936:

Thoughts? I'll be playing leads and rhythm parts.

It pretty much is metal. My first gig with them is at Whiskey Dick's in Columbus in a couple of weeks, some showcase show. It should be interesting.

Chakras | Alternative, Rock, Metal | Cincinnati, Ohio, United States | Supernova.com (http://www.supernova.com/Chakras)

Just like Myspace, just off the beaten path.

Not my cup of tea at all.

That said, it's interesting and the female singer has vox (looks like she's easy on the eyes too)

GL, sounds solid enough for it's genre to gain a following

To be blunt, you can do better, old_skul.

I'm hoping that I can make the band better with better songs. One of the key things I've learned about this band so far is that the players do not know when to stop playing their instruments - which is where I intend to start.

Sounds like Lacuna Coil.

Something about your vocalist really bothers me. With that type of music, I think you would benefit more from someone with a more deep, raspy voice that can drive the music. The drummer is pretty solid though.

I didnt like it. she sounds like she is trying to force the amy lee vibe or something...maybe its just me. the music, however, was nice.

whip em into shape, man!
