WorstAim 04-25-2008, 01:00 AM My squat is lower than my bench, but I don't ever squat as much as I probably could because I'm scared my knee's are going to blow out. ZodiaK 04-25-2008, 07:05 AM i'd prefer low numbers to the fags i see plop on 225 then curtsy like a little girl Rayn 04-25-2008, 07:33 AM yikes ... ReaListik 04-25-2008, 10:43 AM I'm in the same boat and it is embarassing for sure the problem isnt that I *can't* squat the weight, its that i feel way too uncomfortable while doing it. I feel like theres too much pressure on my spine, on my knees, and on my shoulders (just because of the bar pressing into my traps) so at this point i would rather just squat comfortably and not risk falling on my ass like a retard in front of everyone gRraWr 04-25-2008, 03:40 PM i'd prefer low numbers to the fags i see plop on 225 then curtsy like a little girl rofl "curtsy" I'm in the same boat and it is embarassing for sure the problem isnt that I *can't* squat the weight, its that i feel way too uncomfortable while doing it. Phantred 04-25-2008, 04:22 PM i'd prefer low numbers to the fags i see plop on 225 then curtsy like a little girl hahaha yes! My squat has a good 50 lbs on my bench, but started about 20lbs below my bench 7 or 8 months ago. Rayn 04-25-2008, 04:46 PM the problem isnt that I *can't* squat the weight, its that i feel way too uncomfortable while doing it. I feel like theres too much pressure on my spine, on my knees, and on my shoulders (just because of the bar pressing into my traps)I feel this when I attempt a new, heavy weight. It's just that all the stabilizers in your core need to get up to snuff. In a few weeks I find I feel like I can do jumping jacks with the weight on my back, but the first few times I throw it on my shoulders I have to grunt just from trying to keep upright. My squat is about 110 lbs over my bench. I just don't think any muscles in the body gets stronger faster than the quads/hams/glutes Rayn 04-25-2008, 04:48 PM i'd prefer low numbers to the fags i see plop on 225 then curtsy like a little girlGod, not only does that piss me off, but they're going to get hurt. I see guys doing that with like 450 and they bend at their waist and put the weight out in front of their center of gravity. Not only is this terrible for the hips and back in terms of potential for injury, but it doesn't even engage the majority of the muscles the exercise is designed to hit. I have a new high school kid in my gym the last 2 weeks and he puts like 155 on the bar and does that fucking curtsy for 3 x 5. I would guess he is doing Rippetoe, but unless he does more homework and figures out how to squat his results are going to be shit. I don't mind newbies at all, but the thing that pisses me off about this guy is he doesn't rack his weights. Etiquette is so underrated ... "Hey I'm brand new and have no idea what I'm doing, let me piss people off by leaving my weights all over the fucking place too!" Radon006 04-26-2008, 02:56 PM I was getting somewhere on squats until i realized I wasn't doing it right. I just don't have the flexibility for the exercise yet unfortunately. My back, hamstrings, and hips are all way too tight. Watch this video. I thought I knew how to squat: YouTube - Squat Rx #1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rq8CWv8UPAI) | ||
