Guild Beta 2 Contest

Well, the hounding and bitching seems to have finally resulted in an answer. Check those mailboxes, Gundam and Dalmar. :D

Hey all,

We still fully intend to honor the contest, and I'm happy to announce have been selected and will be notified shortly

Why were we waiting so long? Well development of a game is fluid in some respects, with our extended release schedule it allowed us to take more time to make sure that when guild beta happens it serves it's full purpose. We don't want guilds to come in and tell us stuff we already know, we want to work together to find things that weren't apparent to us...guilds are a vital part to a games longevity and community. They are often times large, organized groups of people that can work in unison to provide us with feedback and insight from an angle we can't really achieve with in house testing and individual beta participants.

If we brought such a specialized group of people into a beta that wasn't ready for them much of that momentum would be lost and the program itself wouldn't be as effective.

We're really excited for Guild Beta and we have some great groups of people. We'll have some announcements coming up concerning it but for now we're just getting everything in order. Exciting times are ahead, stay tuned!

Pretty sure he means our contest, because that was the only one mentioned in the thread.

(The one where guilds were asked to design WAR-oriented guild websites and submit guild fanfiction) Mind clarifying that that is, in fact, what you're talking about? I had all but given up on ever getting a response from Mythic.

Buy us a new website and make it not look like suck. We are never going to be accepted as a real guild with that crap. Half the links don't work, the last update was 9/07 and the only screens are from crappy guild wars.

for real. thats pretty disrespectful to shit all over the site like that. although maybe the gw sshots dont fit in with war, but it shows that BE was an established guild before war was even announced.

im about to hop on and get started with some overhauls today. thanks for the update. aim is sprinterchs if anyone wants to pitch ideas at me, etc and ill be on here.

edit: yea voxx is not the flashiest site but it was built from scratch in about 2-3 days and no updates since then so bear with us homie

I have told Dalmar that, multiple times. He says Arcane just disappeared and he doesn't have the ability to edit it.

It's not that the site looks bad (it looks fine), it's that half of it doesn't work, and there was never any updates done. Everything that was posted on this private forum should have been posted on the website. I've been saying this the whole time, but everyone seemingly thought the contest was abandoned or whatever, even though I don't remember them ever saying it was.

Now that it is "back", we really need to get the shit updated if we want a chance at getting in, or we need to get a new site. I'm not being cruel or mean. I'm being realistic and honest. The current site is probably balls compared to the other guilds. The End.

Also - I understand WHY the GW pictures are on there, but we've all played tons of games together over the years, I'm sure we could contribute a hell of a lot more to show this. Even pictures from UVALAN would be awesome.

There is no reason to get all high and mighty and get your panties in a bunch. We all appreciate the site being made, and thrown together and the work done. It just isn't good enough to get us in, in it's current state, and we all know that.

He had real life shit he had to deal with. It wasn't malicious. Life happens. Arcane messaged me about the site last month asking me if I thought anything needed to be done with it. I basically told him not to waste any time on it until the game is released. I thought they had abandoned the contest. It had been a year since the entries were made without so much as a word from Mythic about them. I thought the contest had died when Richard, the community head at the time, left Mythic.

I don't see the difference. I told you what was wrong with the site, half the links don't work, it hasn't been updated since 9/07, and the screenshot section is weak.

Reread that and honestly tell me that doesn't go beyond constructive criticism. Honestly, it doesn't really matter. All of your points are very valid. I just took exception to the way you chose to present them. :shrug:

Most people do. I think we need to get across the fact that we are a community, moreso than just a guild. The fact that a lot of us have known each other for a long time. There are people joining this guild that I have known for 14 years. I think that is our strongest point, and we need to emphasize that.

Skimmed the thread but I can help with a site if need be.

They really need to step their outreach up... badly. Regardless of their quality, they need to counter AoC hype and show that the game is IMPROVING.
