I am trying to open a port for utorrent, I have followed the guide for my router (WBR-2310) on portforward.com, and I am using DHCP reservation to get a static IP.
My windows firewall is also disabled but the ports are STILL closed, I am running out of ideas here :disgust:

Your ISP is forwarding your port up your butt.

Could be the router.
Could be your ISP.
I thought it was my ISP for a long time. Turns out my router's firmware had some bugs that after a certain time, the settings went to shit and I had to either just deal with shitty running net connections, or install 3rd party firmware.
I installed DD-WRT and it works fan-fucking-tastic now.

I fiddled around a bit more and opened up some more ports, 4 more on either side of the one utorrent is using and it seems to work now.
BUT it has worked fine temporarily before, it might still be borked.
what is this DD-WRT?

It's a third party router firmware, custom made for more powerful control over router settings.

If you have it attached to a modem with it's own NAT/DHCP, there could be a 'double NAT' going on. Google for tons of explanations...

I don't use p2p, but can't you customize your port in uTorrent and open that in your router? Wouldn't that get around an ISP blockage?
