Did I mention how much this pains me that Feannag doesn't approve of my methods? Its like the pope telling a catholic he's excommunicated.

Buying gold IS pretty retarded. I used to buy gold pre-tbc. I spent around 50 bucks for 1000g. You know how HARD 1000g was to grind back then? It was far more rampant (the sheer number of farmers).

The whole idea is getting rid of the farmers by making it EASY to get gold. 30 minutes-1 hour gets you about 100g or more (AT LEAST).

Sure, some people really have THAT little time to spare to grind. But seriously, it's that easy to get gold now.

1000g these days cost around $30-40. If you're farming 200g/hr it's going to take you 5 hours. Doing some basic math that works out to $7/hr.

Now I don't want to sound like a real asshole, but my time is not worth $7/hr.

Thus why I'm fine with buying gold.

See...this is real logic.

I can stay at work an hour late, get paid $20, then use that to go buy 500g. As a side benifit, it also helps me get promotions and bonuses. I could also go home and play WoW. 200g and no benifit.

It's a hard choice, I know.

If you're willing to pay for bits and pixels that aren't even stored on your machine and proves no benefit besides letting you buy nicer bits and pixels, far be it for me to stop you.

But you're still an idiot. If you're going to waste $30-$40 and you aren't going to miss it, fucking save it.

There are far far far better things to waste your money on anyway. All you're doing is promoting seller spam.

You know botting for your own personal benefit causes none of these problems.

I bet you're one of the people that hates paying cover charges or buying in to a card game. Money spent on entertainment is mostly pointless, save for the fact that it is entertaining...

No, I'm not like that.

But hey, it's your money.

5000g will probably set you back $100 to $200. Just pissed away.

Why not take your girl out for a nice dinner instead. That would be far more entertaining, no?

I'm not telling people to do shit, just saying buying gold is retarded. But if you're of the "gotta have it now" mentality, there is no talking sense to you.

because its impossible to spend $100 on something then take a girl out to dinner?

your logic is fail

That's assuming it's the only thing you'd do with that money.

But hey, pissing away my money for no tangible reward besides shallow "entertainment" just doesn't appeal to me. It's bad enough I play WoW period.

My wife will spend $200 on clothes and will leave them in her trunk for weeks. I've spent $200 on disneyland tickets for relatives who complain the whole time there because they did not get a toy....and worse I've spent $200 on a girl just to get this | | close to getting laid (yes I am that selfish). I wont even go into gambling.

So long as you are investing a portion of your cash, the rest can be spent on whatever a person pleases.

But I understand you. I'm just spouting my obstinate opinion that gold buying is retarded.

I didn't really mean to start a huge debate. But as many have said, grinding for gold is not something I enjoy doing in WoW. I enjoy pvping, raiding, even a little leveling.

I think there are a lot of illogical arguments in this thread. My responses:

1. Yes dailies are a good way to get money. But this does not exclude me from supplementing my income with purchased gold. Furthermore, dailies are not even that time efficient if you compare how much money you make working in real life vs. how much gold you make doing dailies.

2. I might have misspoken when I said I don't have enough time. I do. In fact, if I really wanted, I could probably play WoW for 30 hours a week while maintaining my full time real life job. But that would use up most of my free time.

3. To look down on the idea of purchasing gold simply because they're "pixels and bits" is pretty silly. You are essentially arguing that anything you cannot physically touch should have no value. Furthermore, I'm buying more than just pixels. I'm buying the time it would take for me to make that much gold.

I guess I can see what you guys are saying. Though I don't really do dailies, I work the AH for cash. I think it's fun (what can I say, I like economics). :p:
