20+ Windows Vista Features and Services Harvest User Data for Microsoft (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Forget-about-the-WGA-20-Windows-Vista-Features-and-Services-Harvest-User-Data-for-Microsoft-58752.shtml)

Are you using Windows Vista? Then you might as well know that the licensed operating system installed on your machine is harvesting a healthy volume of information for Microsoft. In this context, a program such as the Windows Genuine Advantage is the last of your concerns. In fact, in excess of 20 Windows Vista features and services are hard at work collecting and transmitting your personal data to the Redmond company.

These articles are always so sensationalist. Why am I not surprised that an adult who watches cartoons is posting this?
Oh no, Microsoft knows which updates I have installed, or which video card I have. Call the fucking FBI.

Oh no, Microsoft knows which updates I have installed, or which video card I have. Call the fucking FBI.lmao. Read your EULA.
"Microsoft may disclose personal information about you if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) comply with the law or legal process served on Microsoft; (b) protect and defend the rights of Microsoft (including enforcement of our agreements); or (c) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of Microsoft employees, users of Microsoft software or services, or members of the public,"
Law enforcement probably won't be looking for what MS updates you've applied or what video card you have. I'll leave what websites you visit, what books you buy, (and in what arabic dialect), what MPAA & RIAA "errors" media player detects, which (digital) "rights of Microsoft" you might threaten, to your imagination.

So lets see, the list includes, Windows Update, Finding plug and pray drivers, media player, error reporting, all the usual stuff...in a Windows XP install as well...
Talk about over sensationalization(sp)... .
If you think XP does not collect the same info, you are stupid.

How true. Similarly, if you think Slackware does collect that info, you're also an idiot.

If you think your e-penis is huge because you use a Linux distro that exists solely to bloat Linux users egos, you're also an idiot.

You seem angry. I didn't mean to threaten your right to share all the personal information you want with Microsoft. By all means, carry on. Send them blood samples if it makes you happy. Just try not to let it hurt your feelings if I'd rather not.
