I am 6 foot, 240 pounds. im not in great shape, but im not some huge fat slob either.

My grandfather has diabetes, and lately has been having big health problems and last week he had to have his leg amputated.

My parents have been telling me to get in shape, and I have been working out for a couple weeks now.

I played football in HS and I have been in good shape before. I think I just need to lose like 30 pounds and if I hit the gym 4 or 5 days a week, I can do that.

But my parents want to buy me a personal trainer. I think its unneccesary. I really think that I could easily get in shape within 3 months work at the gym.

But would you reccommend getting a personal trainer? I dont know much about them. I am not the type who wants to discuss everything with some guy either...

6ft 240 lbs + you not working out + your parents telling you to get in shape and wanting to buy you a personal trainer = you probably are a huge fat slob

anyway.. with as much information you can get on the internet and stuff, i don't really see the point. it could help you be more dedicated maybe, idk.

In all honesty, most personal trainers I see at the gyms are fucking terrible and not really trained well. If you can find one that is not a college kid then go for it, but you can probably find better information on the Internet if you look around and get a basic workout.

Hell, if you just want to lose weight, start a newbie running program and a newbie lifting program.
