but is there a way to find out what realm is the newest?
i just bought wow again and i havent played since the first month of release..
i'm sick of running around and the world being empty, then entering IF and seeing 30 lvl 70's jumping around.
i want to level with people.. or maybe one of you good fellas can help me out a bit w/ gold so i can power level :)

Hey that's nice, I usually used Warcraftrealms.net myself but that works too. Age doesn't always mean population though, Ghostlands is one of the newer PvE realms and they offered free transfers if you already had toons on select realms until they opened it up. I think literally four days after they opened transfers it went from Low to Full/Locked.

I remember reading somewhere that the realm size has nothing to do with the actual population on the server, but I can't remember what it really means

I did my own research and I have found the reason for that is simple. Each realm has a different population cap to it. I did some Census testing on Normal realms (since I didn't need two accounts for both Horde and Alliance) and found each realm has a different cap, so the Low, Medium, High, and Full indicators are only related to their respectable caps. Ghostlands has a much lower cap than than a release realm who is high/full because Ghostlands is newer and newer realms tend to have lower caps. If a particular realm proves to be high/full they will probably up the cap to a determined maximum load before starting transfers. I would suspect realms like Blackrock, Warsong, Tichondrius, and similar full release realms are probably at their absolute limit, where newer full realms like Wildhammer and Ghostlands probably still have some "notchs on the belt".
Post on a realm forum. If they welcome you then it's low pop. If they're hostile then its a high pop realm.
