Matrix-like virtual worlds "a few years away" (http://technology.newscientist.c om/article/dn13585-matrixstyle-virtual-worlds-a-few-years-away.html)
Front Page Article (http://www.tribalwar.com/news/5372-Matrix-like-virtual-worlds-a-few-years-away.html)
A researcher at Brookhaven National Lab reckons it could be just a few years before computers can pass through the uncanny valley. The article refers to this as a 'Graphics Turing Test': 'a computer can be considered intelligent if it can create an artificial world capable of fooling a person into believing it is the real thing.

what if we're already inside the matrix.
man, we'd develop a matrix inside a matrix and enslave our matrix selves into it
i bet the robots would laugh at that one.

Wasn't there some research done a few years back that conluded that there was something like a 90% chance that we're already living in a Matrix-style world? No wonder there were so many school shootings...

Maybe, but the article isn't about that at all. It's pretty much just talking about graphics, and the ability to render stuff equalling the very finest 3D art in real time *and* have it animated completely realistically. In other words, extremely pretty games — which will become something else once the media latches onto the whole "This is a virtual world!" thing.
im going for the blue pill.
