What are some things I can do to help improve my grip strength? I sometimes have issues with heavier weights simply due to grip limitations. even pull ups I can only do so many because my grip is poor. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

get a potato sack and fill it full of rocks then drag it around. dig a hole then fill the hole back up. chop down some trees. reverse curls using dumbells. Get a weighted jump rope and work it into your cardio routine.

http://atomicathletic.com/store/images/products/Eagle%20Claw%20Gripper%20 _L.jpg these work pretty good.

You can also take a dowel (wood or metal) about 2" diameter around cut to your length specs.

drill a hole in it and run a rope through the hole, put something on the end like another, smaller shorter bar, (drill a hole through it, tie knot so it doesnt slip) then put a regular weight on the rope.

roll the weight 'up' by rolling your wrists back, then do the same thing down by rolling wrists in a controlled manner. add weight as you like. Your forearms will be ready to pop off in a few minutes

you can buy them premade too

edit: at least, thats what I did to improve my deadlifts. i dont use any gloves or straps so improving my own grip was pretty important

Work out your forearms whenever you work out your arms as well. I know it'll look like you're working out your jack off muscle in the gym, but it helps build strength and protects your wrist from injury.

try this.

Normal pull-up position, however, fold a small towel (hot dog style, if that makes sense), and place it over the pull up bar so that both ends are even with one another.
With one hand, grip the towel tightly and with the other hand grip the pull up bar palm towards your face.

7-10 reps -> switch the towel to the other hand.

This will work both the bicep and forearm.

Good luck!
