you probably don't want ot lift heavy in the chest area

spot reducing doesn't work

you can tighten a weak area, but if you are genetically predisposed to storing fat in a particular location lifting lighter for the respective lift will not increase fat loss in said area.

he said you don't want to lift heavy in the chest area because more muscle under the fat is just going to make the fat more noticeable

also body fat is sortof a double edged sword here in that it can increase estrogen levels causing real non-fat breast tissue to form (usually very small amounts) That should hopefully go away though when bringing your bodyfat down.

I understand what you're saying, and I considered that before I posted my reply. The thing is you have to stay on target with which goals are more important due to the time and effort involved.

If your goal is

1. Get rid of manboobs

outside of surgery your goal is ACTUALLY

2. Get rid of total body fat.

Reducing total bodyfat will take a few months to see much results, especially if you have manboobs. Probably will take at least 5 months of healthy eating to see any noticeable difference.

Increasing muscle substantially will take even longer, like 8 months to a year for any larger gains (more than 10-30lbs per lift - depending on the lift, assuming they lift to failure.)

will lifting heavy on your pecs make your manboobs larger? maybe, but if you make the appropriate decision to lose total body fat and increase strength your longterm goals it just doesn't matter.

you need INCLINE exercises to hit your UPPER pecs and balance out the look. then, as someone said, if you are generally muscular people will just think you have a huge chest.
