I have a feeling I'm really shorting myself on calories here, but I don't know for sure.

here's my an example, this is what I'll take in today

breakfast - 2hb eggs, coffee (2 sugars)
break - 1 yogurt (100 cal, no fat)
lunch - 1 chicken breast - 140 cal, mixed veg. ~179 cal
break - banana - 105 cal

lots of water. Thats only coming out to just under 700 calories which sounds way too low. I would think i almost need to double that but that sound like way too much to eat to me.

Any suggestions?

Uhm....

You can't be eating only 700 calories a day. That's absolutely ridiculous. You should be eating ~2000kcal a day. I don't know your height/weight but I'm pretty sure you're not in shape. But if that's all you're eating, you probably feel like shit - or you're sneaking in several donuts that you aren't mentioning in here.

I'm not feeling hungry, or anything, though I have been pretty bitchy the last couple weeks while doing this.

2k a day calories would be a lot of food compared to what i'm taking in right now, i've been doing this for about a month or so, and usually don't eat anything when I get home because its after 6 most times and I dont want to eat after 6/7 pm

you are going to make your body go into starvation mode which will make you burn less fat than it would if you eat an ideal amount. You are also going to feel really tired and will only want to lay around.

Balanced diet + exercise > starvation

2000 calories is NOT a hard target to reach.

What you are doing is fucking stupid. 700 calories? Not eating after 6/7pm. Why?

Because i go to bed around 10pm, I dont want to go to bed with a gut full of food.

Actually its a good idea to have some food in you ( like casein protein ) while you sleep. Also, take some plain yogurt and your bananas, throw them into a blender with some protein powder/milk/ice and make yourself a shake instead.

Do you eat dinner?

edit: throw in a couple pieces of whole wheat toast or bagel with your eggs. hell, put your eggs on top of a bagel. either way, 700 a day is probably hurting you more than helping you in any way

'dinner' usually comes at work, around 4:30 or so

Dude, that is way too low. You're going to devour all your muscle in your body along with the fat. I recommend 10 x body weight calories per day for weight loss and then 45-60 minutes of exercise a day as many days a week as you can. You should not be losing more than 2 lbs a week unless you're really overweight (discounting water weight) as a general guideline. Anymore than that and you're probably losing significant muscle along with the fat. This is a bad thing (lower metabolism, looks worse when you get skinny) Incorporating resistance training is also vital for preserving and building muscle mass, as well as expediting weight loss.

I'm eating about every 2 hours, but its only around 100 cal. or so. So i'm bumping my metabolism every so often.

It just feels like 2000 or so cal is too much compared to what I'm eating now and this has been working for me for weight loss for about a month or so.

At this point i'm putting in 1 hr in the morning on the treadmill at a 'brisk' pace, and light weights at night.

holy fuck! .. 700 calories per day, as people have already said in the thread, are you insane?

my meal alone in the morning almost consists of 700 calories lol, I could never imagine eating just 700 calories per day.

if you keep doing that you're going to catabolize all your muscle and when you stop dieting you'll yo-yo back up since your calorie needs will have dropped significantly. Starving yourself is just not a healthy way to lose weight permanently. Your metabolism is going to wind up slowing down so much to try and survive on so little calories your weight loss will eventually stop and you'll have shit for energy.

Like i said, i usually don't eat a dinner after work. i get home at 7:30 or so, and I don't like eating that late. I go to bed around 10pm or so. So my 'dinner' is the chicken/veggies at work around..well now :)
