i remember seeing a pic of it awhile ago, may have been in GD but it was a strat whose whole body was wood, maybe cedar. no starburst or nothing, just a beautiful wooden body. anyone?

That's called a "Natural" finish. There's many examples, just google it.

my dad has a solid rosewood telecaster from like 1969 but there were very few made.

the only other one i've seen was george harrisons on the beatles rooftop show

edit: this is also my favorite tele of all time and i've never found another that i enjoy playing more. it's probably all in my head but that thing is soooo smooth

I just do not get into natural finishes on guitars of any kind. I think it makes the damn thing look too much like someone's dining room table:
