DropSquad 03-25-2008, 04:10 PM UGH! So now that i'm out of school I can no longer use my school gym, and i'm 23 so I can no longer piggy back on my families plan at Lifetime Fitness.
I'm looking around everywhere and most places are 100+ to start and ~60+ a month to maintain. To me these prices are fucking insane.
One place was free to join, 20 a month, but SUPER limited freeweights. No squat rack, no place to deadlift. It was a ton of machines and a few smith machines. That just wont fly.
Why can't there just be some place with a bunch of benches, a bunch of squat racks, a few places to deadlift, and a seat to to military presses full of a bunch of fat necked roid ragers for 20 a month? I don't need much I just want the fucking basics and not for 8 billion dollars. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Bomba 03-25-2008, 04:30 PM golds - 83$ to convert old contract to this new plan. 10$ a month no contract, gaurenteed 5 years
Vekzor 03-25-2008, 04:45 PM Anytime Fitness
I payed 110$ to start but I only pay 36$/mo. My workout buddy is a marine so he got me the 10% military discount....
the gym is awesome though. I live in a small town, but they're everywhere apparently.

i'd love to be around a golds, the nearest one is a good 40 minute drive away.
New York Sports Club (NYSC), $80/month and I can't wait til my contract is up. It was the closest gym to me I knew about, then I found out one with a REAL weight room (more than one squat rack) was close enough to drive to. I walk in there some days and if someone is on the squat rack or the other piece of equipment I happen to need that day, I am fucked.
Son of Mothra 03-25-2008, 07:23 PM I go to the local YMCA, 38$ a month
TripLikeIDo 03-25-2008, 07:30 PM Mike Miles National Kickboxing & Muay Thai
$66 /month on a lifetime membership.
Unlimited classes, full weight gym, heavy/speed bags, use of all pads/training equipment & ring.
"The Gym", creative name... $200 sign-up, $140/month. It's close to work and clean... but I wish it didn't cost this much.
Phantred 03-25-2008, 07:34 PM stick with lifetime if you can breakoff your families and keep the 50 a month rate, i'm stuck with the 86 a month but its well worth it.
Father Ruckus 03-25-2008, 08:02 PM I go to the local YMCA,
Free, due to my sister being a YMCA employee
MistaKe 03-25-2008, 08:12 PM Anytime Fitness, $90 to enroll and $53/month.
Worth the money, I love it.
mostest def 03-25-2008, 08:16 PM 24 hour fitness
i paid $900 total for the first 3 years, then after that its $50 a year.
Synergy Fitness - I pay 34 bucks a month - it's about 15 minutes away unfortunately, but everything else was like 60+ bucks/mo.
Radon006 03-25-2008, 10:19 PM Fucking ridiculous how much it costs..
HeLLrAiSr 03-25-2008, 10:29 PM god damn
i was lookin into this too
Darkstrand 03-26-2008, 12:56 AM world gym 50 a month although a 12 month contract is cheaper. lots and lots and lots of freeweights open power cages and importantly no shit is bolted down so I can move stuff around to get it the way I want.
Thats one thing you have to watch out for. I know for instance and 24 hour fitnesses a lot of the time all their shit is bolted down.
Gizmo 03-26-2008, 11:08 AM Next time we are doing an friends and family thing for employees at my gym ill send you a message, I can sign up a lot of people for 24 dollars a month, any gym any time you want to go in, no initiation fee and no processing fee (which is like 180 dollars) you just pay for the first and last months dues (1 yr contract) which would 48 bucks. And there ya go, fully loaded gym for 24 bucks. :) Not sure when we will be running the deal again though but Ill make sure to ask if you have one by then, as you can sign up through the internet, and not have to deal with a sales counselor
edit: oh I work at 24 hr fitness.
BigWorm 03-26-2008, 12:02 PM I got a decent deal with 24-hour fitness a few months ago
All club sport, month-to-month contract, no startup fees, $35/month
There are a couple 24-fitness gyms in my area that are decent (good weights, squat racks, basketball courts, pool, etc)

The Anytime Fitness that I'm apart of plans on adding a basketball court, and maybe some space for yoga and shit - that's the rumor at least.

Please let all of us know if you can. I hear they are expanding to nyc... this would be awesome if I can save that kind of money. Thanks.
