at least not heavy lifting.

A few months ago I decided that everytime i left the gym, i wanted to be in pain. I was going to work the shit out of every muscle, everytime. I've had fantastic results, lower body fat while actually gaining an avg of 1lb per month, haven't seen that since I was a beginner.

Anyway, the only problem is recovery. 2 days after working out a particular muscle, the soreness sets in, lasts till the next day, no biggy, the normal stuff. After core or squat days, everything takes a noticeable hit. I just can't bench or squat at my peak if i have hit my core hard within the past 2 days, and vice versa. chest\shoulder day is the only day that doesnt have much of an effect on the other 2 workouts, so I put it on wed of my mon wed fri routine.

I understand people have different recovery times, but is mine really that far off from most peoples? I hear 6 day routines are really common and it blows my mind.

i lift 3 days a week and run or ride for a 4th. I can't imagine going everyday though. You gotta have no life for that kinda time.

I don't ever get sore unless I take a month or 2 off completely. And then I only get sore the 1st or second time.

maybe with steroids and a lot of sleep

At least one of the above. Toss in a really good diet, and a bunch of supplements.

I get a little sore every single workout but it doesn't happen til the second day after. My brother, who does the same workout with me, never gets sore. I hope that doesn't mean I have the HIV or something :P

nah, i'm the exact same way.

I went a long time without ever getting sore, but i found there was a point i could push myself to get sore on that second day.

Due to the results, I have to assume its a good thing, but i am SO sensitive to overtraining doing this. If I get 7 hours of sleep instead of 8, or i drop even slightly below maintenence calories, my workout is completely worthless and i feel like complete shit, really keeps me strict.

Although overeating or eating bad food doesn't really effect me, actually helps, except drinking, a night of drinking fucks me and i always take a minimum of 2 days off afterwards.

nah, i'd be in there 7 days a week if it was good for me. Love the gym.

lots of people spend a few hours on the road a day just going to work and coming back, finding time for the gym for the average person really isn't a problem.

Taking care of kids, full day of work, all that sort of stuff, i can see it being a problem... hell maybe that is closer to the average.

i do full body lifting everyday sometimes without break days for weeks. my body is just used to it. its only about an hour a day. if i take a day off its because i havent slept well, and i know i wouldnt be able to workout because of exhaustion

you know, muscles grow when they heal. if you train every day, when will your muscles have time to grow? is sleep going to be enough?

I read over at MAX OT that they recommend you take a week off every 10-12 weeks. During that week you're supposedly ridiculously anabolic cause your muscles have been exhausted and now they can rest and adapt. I feel like if I lift as heavy as I can, there is no way I could do 6 days a week, if I could, I would feel like I didn't work hard enough the day before.

completely agree.

and its one thing to do preacher curls with exhausted hamstrings, but a whole nothing ballgame trying to do squats after fucking your abs up.

I just don't understand how anyone can train at 100%(good, compound exercises) consecutive days.
