Fuzzy 03-25-2008, 06:02 PM  i go until i can't go anymore The Bear 03-25-2008, 08:46 PM you know, muscles grow when they heal. if you train every day, when will your muscles have time to grow? is sleep going to be enough? I read over at MAX OT that they recommend you take a week off every 10-12 weeks. During that week you're supposedly ridiculously anabolic cause your muscles have been exhausted and now they can rest and adapt. I feel like if I lift as heavy as I can, there is no way I could do 6 days a week, if I could, I would feel like I didn't work hard enough the day before. I lift heavy everyday if i don't lift heavy i don't feel like i have done anything. I also take a week off every 2-3 months whenever my body tells me too. I know my limits this is called the slingshot method i come back after my week off and i am even stronger. buize 03-27-2008, 03:42 PM i lift 3 days and do cardio on off days if i have time Tremorkill 03-27-2008, 08:04 PM I lift 5 days a week, Monday through Friday. However I do deadlifts on Wednesday, and that's the ONLY exercise that I do other than cardio on that day, so I dunno if you could say I truly work out 5 days a week. Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays I do cardio. SkivviS 03-29-2008, 11:42 AM im sort of a gym noob as i said in another thread. ive been going to the gym regularly for about two and a half years now and im almost 26, so i got a little bit of a late start. i had to take some time off because of a BP issue that is now resolved, and so when i started back at the gym i decided to follow the M&F "beginners routine" they published a like two months ago. it's a 12 week program with four three week phases. im on the third phase right now. going to the gym 6 days a week: M = chest, shoulder, triceps; T = back, biceps, core; W = legs. repeat through saturday and rest sunday. im seeing a lot of improvements and gains in my lifting strength too. i will admit that i dont lift at 100% everyday, but usually very close to it. GingerBreadMan 03-30-2008, 01:39 AM Steroids/sleep/ice bath Any one or combination thereof. WinterFreshX 04-01-2008, 12:48 AM 6 days a week is not bad as long as it's not the same muscle groups and you mix up the workouts. Right now I do 2 days lifting, 1 day cardio and repeat. I throw in a rest day every week. When I got lifting, I lift without too much hesitation. I get in and do my sets and am out of there in 1.5 hours tops. People take way too long talking and taking long rests for their workouts. You don't want to workout ever more than 2 hours in a stretch. I think it depends on what you are trying to achieve. Are you trying to actively bulk up or just maintain. If you just want to maintain then 3 times a week is fine, else you need more. | ||
