The U.S. International Trade Commission said it would launch an investigation into some 30 companies including Sony Corp on possible patent infringements related to Blu-ray disc players and other products.

^ defiantly, this may relate to Blu-ray but is far more reaching than that with a lot more companies and tech, besides you forgot to mention that all the HD-DVD companies are cited too.

I generally enjoy interweb controversy, but was just taking this from Gamespot since I saw it there first. It would appear all the articles are slanted against Sony. Gamasutra had the best headline.
