Spring check in- new years fitness resolutions

How is everyone doing so far? I hope you all still remember to focus on a goal. Any goal will do. checking it every few months will keep you honest and on track to success!

1.) drop down to 185 from 192: redid this to make it 175. I’m at 186 right now
2.) get better at jujitsu- I still suck. Need to work harder
3.) 1 mile time: down to 6:30. Got a ways to go to get under 6.
4.) lower body strength: still being lazy about doing squats and cleans consistently. Work on that more.

Overall coming along nicely I think. The weight thing is great but I don’t want to slack so I adjusted it to make me want to trim even more.

i'm doing pretty well. i have tightened up my diet. it's been an iterative process though. i think i am on to the right mix now. i too am focusing hard on my fitness because of jiu jitsu (no gi). i'm definitely getting better but still getting worked by most of the guys in my school. I have a tournament this weekend that I've been preparing pretty hard for. I'll update with my results later on Saturday.

I've come down from about 188 to 182. My goal is to get to about 178ish and tone it up big time. My weight class is 166-179.9 so I don't want to lose too much more weight.

a little aside to make you jealous... Do you know who Charuto is? Anyway, he is the guy that trained my school's teachers/founders. He comes into town from time to time and teaches. His techniques are fucking SICK. I NEVER miss class if I know he is in town. I wish I could show you the arm-bar he just taught us. NASTY!!!!

i've gained 5lbs, but haven't had decent workouts for a while after having some brute rip an americana while i was tapping and fucking up my shoulder for a couple of weeks.

i did fall off the wagon with a night full of beer (last night) so i guess i'll be kicking my ass in the gym & cardio for the next two days d:

i wonder how many ppl here at teedub are actively training bjj

and that SUCKS about your shoulder man. i had a guy fuck up my shoulder/chest/back a while back in take-down class. the a few months later another dude tore up both of my elbows. so much fun...

my school is pretty fucking rough

didnt make any new years resolutions, but if I did it would be to not go to the gym as much. I overtrain. The gym is my favorite place to be.

Since christmas my weight has gone up about 3lbs, bench press has gone up 20lbs, squat and deadlift are pretty stagnant, hoping to add 5lbs to squat today. Overall looking a lot better.

I went on spring break with my buddy and a couple of girls. I sat on a beach all day and drank, went home to nap, then woke up and drank. :( This was my 5 day diet, so I've got some work to do...

Currently I'm 200lbs, 5'10".

June goals:

-Looking to drop below my dad's weight (he's working out a lot and dropping pretty consistently, right now at about 184).

-Want to be able to run 5 miles in ~40 min. Doesn't seem like much to you guys, but right now I run about a 9 min mile for only about 2-2.5 miles. So that's going to take some work.

-Get a fucking girl.

Update: Went to do squats yesterday and I guess my left quad wasn't rested or I might just have been fatigued in general after not much sleep. It cramped up real good after a warm-up set of 100 lbs and demoralized I went home after the weakest workout I've had in a long time.

Luckily today it felt great, but I decided I'd give it a rest and lift chest/back.

Put up 195 on bench 3 times which is probably the best I've ever done. The guy who spotted me was done or I'd have maxed out. I'm 95% sure I could have handled 205 for 1 rep which is (would be) a new record :).

Anyway I figure I'm going to crack down on bench now since I've got a goal, which means asking for spots even though I don't like to!

I'm not longer flat benching. While the strength gains have been good, talking with some guys at the gym they tell me it's not the best exercise for size. I have no idea if that's true but I need a change.

My chest routine is now:
Weighted dips
Incline Bench
Cable Crossovers

3x6 ea.

I was plateauing on the flat bench at 225 so maybe this will shake things up.

the only chest exercise sergio oliva did was flat bench

http://www.ifbb.com/halloffame/1999/SergioOliva2.jpg

that being said, change is (obviously) good; two weeks of heavy dumbbells gave me great results when my chest hit a plateau

You know that's pretty amazing he got such great pecs doing only flat bench. I hear so often I need to do cable cross overs to develop my inner pecs (something I need to do, never did cross overs or pec deck) so I wonder if that is false and flat bench will eventually give you nice inner pecs or what.

My goal this year was to be more proficient with crossfit and that has been coming along great. Recently I figured the transition phase of the muscle up and have been able to do them in the wods.

My secondary goal of below 10% bf is still in the making (~11%) right now. I know what I need to do to get there and I just need to take the plunge and go all out on my nutrition. Hopefully I'll decide to just do it very soon.

My Goal was to get to 150-155 lbs and 15% BF by Apr 7th (1st Quarter).
I started at 163 lbs and ~23% BF (I'm 5'6") on Jan 7th.

By Feb 18th, I was down to 146 lbs and 17.5% BF; I have since plateau'd.
I'm between 149-151 and I haven't measured my BF, but I'm sure it has gone up a bit.
Most of it has been the fact that I haven't done as much cardio/dieting as I was initially.

I'm 11 days from my goal date and I did complete the weight portion even though I later changed it to 145 after I made it down to sub 150 lbs so easily. The BF I know I'm not going to make and I'm a bit bummed about it.

I got a 5k I'm running on April 3rd (my bday) in FL and I know I will be doing some drinking that weekend so that won't help.

My July 7th (2nd Quarter) goals are to stay between 150-155 by bulking up a little and then working on lowering my BF to <15% (hopefully <=10%), as well as cutting up tremendously. I want my abs to show and for my arms/chest to become more defined.

This is my bodyspace (http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.co m/supakalel/) shows some of my weight stats.
Starting in April, I plan to start keeping track of my weight lifting stats.

This is exactly what i have switched too (along with doing flys) and I have had more than one person tell me over the last couple of months that my chest has gotten bigger - however i should note that my inner pecs are still making slow gains in terms of size, i yearn for those nice striations in the chest :O Also, incline bench works a different muscle in your chest, gives you a more proportional look overall.
