i HATE running. i like to row, and would love to get into swimming but don't know how to breath correctly. From what i've been told thats the difference from being able to swim for a long ass time and being out of breath in 4 laps.

How can you hate running? You get to run around and look at stuff. If you're smart you konw a place where you can run around and look at girls.

swimming

your body has to turn at the shoulders with each stroke nearly to a 90 degree angle with the water. Breathe every 3 strokes, or every 1 if you're new and out of breath a lot, rotating between left and right side. IE: different side for each breath. I tend to count my strokes when i swim cuz theres not really much else to do. Either count continuously for a 50 yarder, 25 yarder, or to 3 each time, then breath.

if thats easy, go for 5.

Yea, my dad more or less tried to teach me the 3 stroke method. Do I actually shift my whole body to breath or do I just twitch my face over?

I guess it just comes with trial and error

you shouldnt do either
natural movement in the water while stroking each stroke should tilt your entire body. Pretend your body is a giant board all connected to the shoulders. When the shoulders twist, the entire body stays aligned and twists with it. When you breath, it is a simple matter of raising your face about an inch more than usual to get some air.
