Your grocery shopping needs some work. You need to plan multiple meals when you shop and buy in larger amounts so you don't pay a convenience premium. Also, coupons and store brands help ... a lot.
I mean shit, I spend $40-$50 a week on groceries, and I eat meat almost every night including seafood.
ZodiaK 03-06-2008, 04:18 PM penny saving tips:
buy your meats from local meat markets ($5 will get me 3lbs of medium-sized chicken breast at mine)
buy your veggies from a farmer's market (not markedly cheaper, but cheaper still)
i usually buy store brand cheeses which can save you around a dollar per block (cheaper to buy by the block and shred yourself most of the time).
tofuyan wraps are 2.69 at my local publix for 5, but typically ethnic stores have them cheaper and better quality.
you work at a restaurant, you should know how to save money on meals d:

Fucking dot. But that meal sounds great, HeLL. Still haven't gotten around to it. You get the Foreman grill?
HeLLrAiSr 03-06-2008, 04:45 PM Not yet. You get my PM?
Working at a restaurant only teaches me how to act nice enough to get good tips, and how to sneak awesome food. : )
you are still thinking too much of your diet when u are skinny n tryin to bulk lol
ZodiaK 03-06-2008, 04:56 PM 1. my foreman was a waste of money/space.
2. i've sent you two IMs
3. if the restaurant didn't teach you, now you know d:
It's great that you're eating better and working out. I'm not being down on you, but don't stress so much about this stuff. The easier you make some of these things for you, the more likely you will stick with it, which is the most important part. It'll take time before you see major changes, if you make things too complex too early... you run the risk of burning out.
I would also learn to make simple bulk meals that taste ok. I don't really diet, but I used to order food every night, cutting that out was tough enough.
Raven 03-06-2008, 05:14 PM dude i was just trying to give you an idea of a nice clean caloric meal, don't break the fuckin bank!
i also buy food in bulk to save money
2 dollars for a red pepper holy fuck
also i did not invent the Quesadilla.
HeLLrAiSr 03-06-2008, 05:18 PM nooo i know
it wasn't just for me, it was for my family too
but yes those prices and quantity are correct.
i'll need to look into alternatives...there are farmers markets and meat joints near my house, i'll check em out

your foreman was a waste of space? i cook almost all my meat/seafood even bread on my foreman. nothing better
Raven 03-13-2008, 03:31 PM i also use my foreman nightly for chicken/steak/fish
Clever 03-13-2008, 04:47 PM I have recently started limiting myself to 40 dollars/week on groceries. I find I am relying a lot on tuna, cottage cheese, eggs, canned sardines, and chicken thighs for protein sources. Expensive cuts of beef and chicken breasts are usually a luxury unless a good sale is on.

don't rely on tuna. I don't recommend eating more than a few cans a week.

Chunk light tuna doesnt have that much mercury. I never eat the white (albacore) tuna as it is much higher in mercury.
Raven 03-13-2008, 07:26 PM realistik diagnosed his own liver and his findings concluded eating 500x the amount of tuna that a normal person does might fuck you up.
