filsinger 03-05-2008, 09:37 AM I don't completely understand how spawning works in this game. Is it completely based on where your teammates are positioned? The game throws me off a lot because there will be a chokepoint fight going on and then for some reason I'll be spawned in nowhere land.
It seems to try to spawn you "near" where some of your other team mates are to prevent spawn camping. The only problem is this can make some games (especially headquarters on linear maps like Wetwork) totally one-sided due to the way the game works and the way the spawning works.
It seems like in most cases the spawn points are pre-set all around the map and the game just picks one that's available and meets the "near teamamtes" criteria.
Unless you're playing shipment with 32 players, in which case just forgever everything I said, take a class with martyrdom and hold down the fire button when you spawn :P.

If you are playing domination, priority spawn will be near the flag you own, if an enemy is near said flag it will spawn you to the farthest teammate of where you died.
If you own two flags its random between the the two as far as I can tell, it might be related to action around the flag that it decides which to spawn you at.
There is set spawns which is why you can get "camped" in while playing. For example, on Domination, one of the major tactics is to grab 2 flags and form a half circle around the last spawn and camp them in so that they will always spawn at that location.
If you have no flags, or are playing TDM/FFA there is set spawn points around the map you will spawn at. If all team members have fired their weapon/are in a fire fight you most of the time will get dropped in one of these pre-defined spots. There is as RJ said, times where this doesn't always happen, or you get bad luck and get spawned right before a teammate is about to get slaughtered and so you end up spawning into death.
There is 3 things I hate about this game: The spawns, 3 frags and juggernaught. Spawns being #1. Its a big problem, but with the maps as small as they are im not really sure how you would be able to fix it with out there being more camping then there already is.
My list of peeves:
Spawns. Even though I hate S&D (I hate waiting) I can appreciate that it has fixed spawn areas.
Martyrdom + Sonic Boom is the dumbest thing ever. Add on 3 frags or a noob tube and you have a silly class that a lot of people seem to use because they can't kill shit with their gun.
I also hate that they ported the PC version from console.. or at least it shows signs of consoledom. When you connect to a server you can't cancel, so if you can't reach the server you have to wait for it to time out.
When I try to filter the 20000 dedicated PC servers I can't even enter a Ping Less than X filter. Seriously.
Using a single key to handle UAV, Airstrikes, Heli? Dumb. On some maps I often find myself intentionally dying because if I killed the guy shooting at me I would get the heli, when the airstrike is superior. Happens so frequently its becoming a serious aggravation.
But I can overlook all these because the game is addicting :O.

And RJ, I could be mistaken but I'm pretty sure they have it so that 1 button controls all 3 airsupport for a reason. They are all lumped in the same category in the rules you can set for a private match, and I would think being able to stack all 3 would be extremely bad.

The grenade stuff does suck, they're is nothing worse then seeing some retard huck a grenade across the map for it to only randomly hit a vehicle which explodes just as you walk by it.

thats a post I just put up over at COD, It is my idea's for taking out 3 frags, what to replace it with and the changes I think would make juggernaught a decent perk with out making it over powered.

They pretty much already stack. Once you get an airstrike, you only need 2 kills from the airstrike to get heli immediately after (which is pretty easy on most game types save FFA or indoor maps). THe only question is whether or not you are in the action such that you can't stop and use airstrike.
I agree that you should never have more than one type queued at any given time but what happens right now is the game punishes you for killing more enemies if you don't have time to utilize your airstrike after kill 5 or 6. Doesn't make sense to me.
At the very least I wish they would make it so if I kill 7 in a row without using anything you should be able to choose between UAV, airstrike or heli.
EDIT: And another really annoying thing? Can't have multiple choppers. I see the reason for that - fine, but then I'm stuck with a heli I can never use and even if I go on 3 more 7 kill streaks I can never use the UAV again or airstrike again because I'm competing with 3 other people who have queued helicopters. Very broken system.

You definitely better be ready to get slammed, because if you hadnt told me who you were, I would have slammed you. Theres been two 5+ pagers on the 3 nades in the last two days and the dual perk thing has been posted about 1000 times and found that it would be way too overpowerful/radar would be useless. :P

Let me just say the PC version is different and for a lot of game types (in fact, most of the game types) and for a fair chunk of the maps airstrikes make or break the game. It wouldn't be overpowered implemented in the way I posted. Neither would juggernaught. Not to mention almost every other post is a complaint thread whining about 3 frags, not one place did I whine.. infact I gave my feedback on how to replace it with idea's that wouldn't be just "OMG 3FRAG)ZTZS SUCSK!?!?! FUCK YOU IEIWIWW~!!"

I'm finally getting the transition from pc to console fps... fine point aiming im still having trouble with sometimes, but generally getting the hang of it.
I just need to learn how to keep myself in cover more often.

I sometimes forget we are talking with PC people here too, but its no different on 360 than what you explained, other than there are probably a lot more people on servers than on console which would give you higher chances of hitting more people with airstrikes. Certain maps Ill hit bigger airstrikes(Bog, Countdown), but unless they shoot down the chopper fast, its usually still more powerful and keeps your enemy from getting one up themselves, along with allowing your team to shoot all the people shooting at the chopper( I get tons of easy kills on that alone). I dont see it as broken at all, and have really never seen anyone complain about that on the CoD forums, but to each his own I guess.

I didnt say you were whining as its a constructive thread, but its more along the lines of people not replying in the already large threads on the subjects, and why most people get slammed on that site. But I guess your attachment idea sets you apart from the rest, even though that seems like a large change they wouldnt take the time in doing and might be hard for some people to comprehend, hence the lack of replies. I also dont understand how you would get the zoom with the red dot but not get the accuracy? Every guns accuracy increase is based on ADS. Does red dot take away more sway or something? Not really sure I understand that.
Juggernaught isnt that bad though as it only adds a 25% increase in health, while stopping power does 25% more damage, as thats the balance in the two they explained. Your idea on juggs would probably make stopping power have a lack of balance, but thats just my guess. It would be a cool perk though.
Im all for 3 frags getting reduced to 2, getting axed altogether, put a limit on nades per map you can throw, not being able to throw them so fast, not being able to use martyrdom with it, taking away your special nade, or even having a mod with no nades/your initial nade. Any of those would make the game better imo and I would take any of them, but again, of all the things theyve talked about adjusting, this was not included. :-/

Or even worse, have some guy chuck a nade where it hits close to the car but doesnt blow it up, then 5 minutes later you walk by it and it just explodes for no reason. :mad: Then the kill cam shows the guy on the other side of the map shooting people.
For the most part you can add h0merpf, bringtheblitz, vespula, iras, or hypnosia and one of us will get you in with us if we have room. We mainly play HQ though, although thatll rank you up much faster.

Red dot gives the gun less sway and more base accuracy. There is a random gen basically that determines where your shots will go, with us being M16 users this is less of a determining factor since the spray is dead on, but if you take an AK lets say, spray against the wall with iron site for 20 minutes your pattern will not be as "tight" of a pattern if you did that same test with a red dot.
As for Martyrdom, I think the most simple fix for martyrdom is an easy one. You don't have a grenade, the perc doesn't fire. That makes 3 frag have more of a use then spamming nades, but over all I think 3 frags gives nothing to this game, other then letting fags throw them across the map and get no skill easy kills.
If you watch me play for any amount of time, 99% of the time when I throw a grenade its because I know a person is there, or bouncing it off a wall as I run through a door to hit a guy chasing me, or around a corner etc... but on maps like countdown HQ, I too fall into the "fag" catagory because when the map starts as soon as we take a or c, I am hucking shittons of grenades at B, anytime I spawn I throw at least 2 at b to make sure to clear it.
To me its faggy, but if others are going to do it to me, im going to do it to them. The problem I have with juggernaught, is mixed with guns that are like the shotgun or LGM there is no "balance" to it. W/ stopping power you are still required to hit them more then they have to hit you which inherently makes it unbalanced. Certain guns which are one shot one kill guns now will take two shots, while their one shot one kill guns still take one shot.
Sure, the counter to using it, is to use it yourself. But then again I think the reason people use stopping power is the lack of "decent" alternatives in the tier 2 perk line. Juggernaught people use because its overpowered, stopping power because honestly there is nothing else beside those 2 that are "worth" it in the majority of situations you get in while playing CoD. At least using juggernaught the way I propose it you still have to have some "skill" involved in your perk being effective. Stopping power isn't just an increase in power with no skill needed like Jugg is now, You don't hit your enemy anymore then you would with out it, you just hit harder.
With juggernaught you don't have to do "anything" to get the overpowered bonus from it.. you just have to be alive.
As for grenades, juggernaught, whatever.. it really makes 0 difference at this point. They aren't going to change it until long after I am gone from the game I am sure.. although I have to admit.. im thinking of waiting on picking up R6Vegas 2 until you guys have had it for a week to see if its fun because Ive found a new love of sniping after trying to prove I can do what that guy did in that movie.. because I have to tell you.. running around with a sniper, stopping power and steady aim is a fucking blast and listening to people call you a hacker after you no scope them from 50 yards makes my eye sparkle.

alright sounds good.. im f1lsinger on your buddy list. I've been playing HQ pretty much exclusively the couple times ive rented the game. ( i know own it)

I'm pretty sure this is how it works. I'd have to double check but I think there have been a few times where I wouldn't drop a nade if I didn't have one.
Also, for the problem of being stuck waiting to join a server, just open the console and type /disconnect
