HeLLrAiSr 03-04-2008, 09:20 AM What foods should I eat for a higher caloric intake? Bomba 03-04-2008, 10:02 AM the same healthy foods you'd eat in a lower caloric intake HeLLrAiSr 03-04-2008, 12:00 PM But i dont know what foods are specific and high in calories, that are ez to cook or just to buy. MistaKe 03-04-2008, 12:07 PM 3000 calories a day / 6 meals a day = 500 calories per meal. You don't need foods that are high in calories necessarily, but just make sure you're always eating and try to get 500 calories in per meal. HeLLrAiSr 03-04-2008, 12:23 PM so for the protein shake i can throw shit in there thats high in calories Bomba 03-04-2008, 12:26 PM But i dont know what foods are specific and high in calories, that are ez to cook or just to buy. carbs brown rice yams / red potatoes whole wheat pasta oatmeal veggies (not high cals but still important) protein chicken breast lean red meat / lean ground beef lean pork turkey salmon(aslo has heathly fats) halibut tilapia fats nuts / legumes natural penut butter fish oil olive oil theres plenty more but theres a few HeLLrAiSr 03-04-2008, 12:45 PM this bodybuilding is turning out to be an expensive little change :p i eat a lotta nuts, so i'm good with that tuna ok? i noticed its not big on the calories, but is on the protein ReaListik 03-04-2008, 01:12 PM this bodybuilding is turning out to be an expensive little change :p i eat a lotta nuts, so i'm good with that tuna ok? i noticed its not big on the calories, but is on the protein I used to be skinny like you man (145 lbs) and yeah getting bigger is a lot of work and costs a shitload of money. Tuna is a great low cost/high protein food but like I mentioned in your other thread you need to be aware of it's risks before you start eating it every day. During my younger bulking years, tuna was a huge portion of my daily diet. I was eating like 3 cans per day, and now that I'm 27 I feel like it may have fucked up my body. I can't drink anymore because my liver is fucked, I have lost a bit of hair, I'm constantly tired for no reason, my sexual labido has decreased, and my ability to recover from muscle pain has increased significantly. These changes can be attributed to other shit like all the smoking/drinking I did, but honestly I don't think I was any different than the rest of the college kids at that age, and 27 years old seems a bit young to be having health problems like these. The only thing I did that stands out, was that I ate 500x the amount of tuna that a regular person does. Rayn 03-04-2008, 01:15 PM what do you mean your liver is fucked. do you have some kind of reduced liver function?! ReaListik 03-04-2008, 01:24 PM Well as far as I know, my liver is responsible for processing the toxins associated with drinking alcohol, right? About the time I turned 25, I noticed that I was not able to drink without suffering from severe hangovers that I never used to get. It has gotten even worse since then, and now even if I drink 2-3 beers I will be completely written off the next day. My legs feel numb, my mind is cloudy as fuck, and I can barely find the motivation to take a shit or brush my teeth. I'm no doctor but that sounds like my liver is fucked. Radon006 03-04-2008, 01:53 PM I'm no doctor Sounds like a good reason to see one. From what I've read you shouldn't be eating more than 1-2 cans of tuna per week, due to the mercury content. Even less if you eat solid white albacore. If you were eating that much tuna over a long period of time I'm sure it could cause some long term problems. Someone else just mentioned this, about tuna/mercury concerns, in another thread. That shit's scary for sure. I'm not a huge fish/seafood fan but I will eat tuna, salmon, and shrimp (that's where I draw the line I guess). I try to incorporate tuna fish (one can) into my diet because it's good for you, has a ton of protein, etc. I will, after reading about what people have said about tuna here and what friends/family have told me, NOT eat more than one can per week. I couldn't imagine eating three cans of tuna a day, damn. As for shakes/smoothies, Hell, you can have them as a meal or meal replacement, sure (think I mentioned this in your other thread). It's a staple for me, almost every morning and especially after work-outs. I buy these packets of whey powder (60g of protein in each), pour it in, a cup of 1% milk, maybe some yogurt, and whatever fruit I have around. Comes out to ~350-400ish calories, all depending on what goes in, etc. So if you're striving for more, might need to eat like a handful of nuts or something to top off at 500ish calories. Enjoy. Raven 03-04-2008, 04:27 PM avacado! shits so fucking good make natural quesa's with some cheese, chicken breast, peppers, onions, avacado, and whole wheat tortillas HeLLrAiSr 03-04-2008, 06:51 PM avacado! shits so fucking good make natural quesa's with some cheese, chicken breast, peppers, onions, avacado, and whole wheat tortillas that sounds fucking good! i'll have to try it NiceBoy 03-04-2008, 10:21 PM natural peanut butter is your best friend. toss it in between two slices of whole wheat bread and thats at least 500-600cals right there alone. add another 100 with a glass of skim milk good fats high calories protein tastes good ZodiaK 03-04-2008, 10:41 PM i eat a lot of tex-mex to keep my meals simple but with some variation. chicken, onion, cubanelle vegetarian refried beans tortillas (i prefer tofuyan wraps personally) cheese (if you want, i don't eat a lot of dairy) sprouts (brocolli, alfalfa etc) from there you've got: enchiladas (with ench sauce topping), chimichangas, quesadillas, and soft tacos. it's one way to keep from getting burned out on the same shit. i do the same thing with tuna by alternating a tuna pasta (with veggies and condensed cheddar soup) and tuna salad. MistaKe 03-04-2008, 10:54 PM natural peanut butter is your best friend. Man, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. After I open mine, it stays "good" for about a week. After that week or so, the next time I open it to use some for a sandwich or whatever, it's all hard and 'separated', a little chalky too. Am I not supposed to mix the oil that lays on top of it? Am I not suppose to refrigerate it (although it says to right on it)? What am I doing wrong? I want to spread it on stuff and I can't when it's all rocky and chalky. dubs 03-04-2008, 11:57 PM Man, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. After I open mine, it stays "good" for about a week. You have to mix the oil back into the paste, all natural peanut butter separates. MistaKe 03-05-2008, 12:03 AM You have to mix the oil back into the paste, all natural peanut butter separates. Hmm, weird, that's what I did. When I first opened it up I took a knife and mixed it all up real good so that it was one smooth spread (i.e. no oil sitting on top of the paste). Like I said, a week or so later, it's all chalk and not spreadable. It doesn't taste and different but I guess I have to eat it with a spoon or my fingers or something because I can't spread it on a banana or my sandwich, etc. This is a sad day. dubs 03-05-2008, 12:32 AM Hmm, weird, that's what I did. You mean it looks like it dried out? I think I had this problem too but I haven't bought peanut butter in awhile. I think what helped me was letting it warm up a bit to room temperature. | ||
