I haven't built a PC in 5 years and have been on only a laptop for the last two...so I'm out of the loop on PC stuff to say the least.

I'm going with this CPU:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168 19115017)

Question is, can I get away with the OEM heatsink/Fan (I don't plan on gaming much or overclocking) or should I go with:
Zalman 9500A 92mm (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168 35118223)

Also, anyone want to recommend a board?

Thanks guys and gals!

Guess if you are not going to overload your CPU or OC, then the stock heatsind/fan would be enough BUT I have that exact Q6600 and the Zalman 9500A heatsink and it does a great job of keeping the CPU cool so money well spent... The thing you want is a good cooling solution through-out your Tower and if you don't have that or exhaust/intake fans fail on you one day(not real likely), then the Zalman may save your CPU; JMO!! :)

I only know Asus boards(high-end), so I can't give you a recommendation on a good broad range of brands and types of mobos....

Well, I had planned on going with an Asus board- which one are you using?

I'm basically going with this case:

Antec Performance One P180 Silver cold rolled steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168 11129154)

Thanks for the feedback!

I have the Asus P5N32-E SLi mobo..

The Antec P180 is a very nice case...

I just built 3 PCs in last 4 months using the Antec900 case... One of best cooling solutions I have seen, kool looking and very quiet even if you add the window fan....

False;

The stock fans/heatsink nowadays are very good. Not as good as aftermarket, but good none-the-less. You will experience temps up to the low 60s, but for most CPUs, thats well below the rated limit (usually 85).

If you get that Zalman, beware the copper fins. They're very thin, and I've given myself some badly scratched hands from installing them. You may want to consider installing to a removable mobo tray first, and connecting any components you can, and then placing the tray into the case, as that HS takes up a lot of room.

P180 is a good case.
Allow me to recommend the P182. It's got better built in cable management.
Get a PSU with modular cables, you will need it with this case (It's freaking huge).
And maybe something like a back brace for lifting the damn thing.

As for Mobo, the P5N-E SLI or P5N32-E SLI should be just the thing for you.
